Hello everyone, Tumbler status: Hope to soon find time to finish my front axle alignment jig. Hard to get much done in the face of other pressing demands; finding only an hour a day to work but hours turn into days. See Big Wave Daves post that gives you his perspective on the bearings and welding issue.

Hey MaineBat,
Thanks for asking. My Tumbler has been moving steadily forward an hour a day. Have spent the last 8-months, an hour a day, on additional research, self education, drawing life-size templates and other build preparations. Once I return to the physical build I will photograph my tangible progress and start to post again. vertigo

Awesome....Thanks for the update...planning this build myself to start next year! Long time.e dream to own an 89....but it's migrated towards the tumbler. Come from a back ground of building jeeps and rock crawlers but have no experience with fiberglass or making molds!

Hey everyone,
Finally able to put some quality time into my Tumbler. I have maybe a hundred hours experience on
plasma tables and just acquired a used TORCHMATE 2 x 4 foot capacity
CNC plasma table. Working on increasing it's capacity to 4 X 4 feet.
By the way, a plasma table can do a lot more than just cut steel with
a plasma torch. Substitute a wood router for the plasma torch and you
have a wood cutter/carver beyond compare. In fact any power cutting
tool you can mount on the table can be used. A friend of mine has a
MIG welder gun mounted on his and does robot quality welds on anything
he can fit on the table. An artist friend of mine uses his to carve
wood relief panels and to etch glass panels with his art. He also uses
it to route signs and to do line art. Also FYI the TORCHMATE brand
has no equal. The rest on the market are poorly made without any
support behind them. You might like to go to the TORCHMATE web site.
The perfect place to turn a creative mind loose. Trust me,
the possibilities of personal use will cascade before you as you read
this site. The growth series is of particular interest. Some are as
small as 2 x 2. feet. vertigo

Hey everyone,
Took the plunge and bought Shaggy's plans, templates and model. Only fair, since I had benefited so much already from his years of hard study and detailed work. I studied the files straight for 12-hours in detail with great interest. His work is really quite amazing. Without a doubt, he has master level computer graphic and computer design abilities. He is a true artist, having reached a level of ability, that allows him to use almost any tool to achieve professional results. His Tumbler plans, templates, and model, are better than many I have seen on aircraft and weapons systems done by graduate engineers. Anyone wanting to build a Tumbler should buy these from Shaggy if they are really serious about building a Tumbler. It would take years of work and study to do your own and it is doubtful that you could come even close to the results that Shaggy has achieved in more than 5-years of work. His work on the Tumbler matches the methodology used by professional car designers. The quality of Shaggy's work is outstanding and really excels when one realizes that he did not stop with just the Computer Aided Drafting but tested his computer drafted model in the physical world by building actual models to test the accuracy of his computer modeling. vertigo

Hello Everyone,
Information that may be valuable for someone contemplating the building of composite body panels for the Tumbler.
Finally found something that might be of benefit to those new to fiberglass and composites and/or having some problems/difficulties with turning their composites dreams into competently executed realities. Learning to use fiberglass and other composites from internet videos alone is almost impossible. This is one area of learning that is easiest to learn from books with lots of detailed pictures, reinforced with videos, and only truly mastered with lots of hands on practice. I found three books written by John Wanberg and titled COMPOSITE MATERIALS Fabrication Handbook #1, #2, and #3 Composite Garage Series. These books are very detailed and extremely well written and illustrated. The information in these books is very to the point without the clutter of any BS. I have to say they are the best I have seen for someone looking for the shortest way to gain general knowledge and a fast transition into practical application. vertigo

Worth every penny. vertigo
