So I know I havent posted much recently and I wish I had bigger gains to share but like alot of people on here regular life tends to get in the way..lol I have however aquired a few more large pieces and can move forward now. I did get some work done on parts of the frame. I need to buy a bigger hole saw to drill out the other side but you can see the basics cuts are made and the first hole drilled.

In these you can see i had a local shop bend the steel to mirrow the angles of the ends. I figured this way instead of welding in each individual bar, id have solid ends making it stronger. I did do some grinding afterwards so I will need to tweek them just a tad.

So as far as my power train goes I decided to go with the CBR500R engine. Its a parallel twin cyblinder 500cc. If you look at the pictures it has a very similar foot print to the dirt bike engines like the ones used in the movie bike. I elected to go with this for the longer gear ratio transmission for road use as well as fuel injection and longevity of the motor. On the down side it comes with lots of wires and sensers becasue of the emissions standards these day. Most of them i think I can tuck away but im sure there will be challenges along the way.

This is the bike as I bought it. You can see even in these pictures the basic profile of the engine.

Most recently Ive been tearing the bike down so i can get the engine out and use it so i can make the cradle part of the frame. Im assuming I will have to stretch it just a bit to make up for the difference in size, but I dont think it will be noticeable.

Today I listed all of the bike parts on craigslist and soon on ebay. Between buying the bike and the lathe (you may have seen in the background) cash fund is on the low side! As soon as I can move a few of these body parts etc I will be able to stick that money into buying more metal and really get going on the frame. I will keep you guys posted as much as I can! Hope you enjoyed the updates! Mike

So its obviously been quite a while since ive posted any updates (aka because i havent done any work) lol... I am finally getting back into the swing of things though. I do have a remodeled pool and back yard to show for my absence so its wasnt all for nothing I strung up the motor and have been testing my wood templates for the engine cradle. The first one os directly from shaggys drawings which would probably be fine for the standard single cylinder dirt bike engine. Since i went a little bigger, I had to do the same for the cradle.
