This may have been covered before but, how did they make the central pedestal work? Did it actually work or was it a stunt bat? It seems to me there wouldn't be enough room under the cockpit for it to fit, much less carry the hydraulics necessary for the lift and spin.

Yep. But it would make for a great gear shifter. And the other leavers can be for other things, maybe attach them to the disc launcher doors? Or a spring loaded clown tripper latch?

Or the grappling hook?

Or the smoke screens on the back?

Or the oil spill doors on the back?

Or the afterburner?

Or a throttle adjustment for "jet noise"!!!

I've read somewhere that they took one of the previous functioning '89s and stripped it out to put the hydraulic cylinder.
