Hey mike, I guess I'm kind of an old timer. I'm the guy who asked DooHee to create a members only section. Back in the day when things were busy on the site I had a lot of special pics and information that I didn't want to just go out on the net. The members only is like a vault of the people who started and finished their projects. I agree the site is kinda dead but it's really a reflection of the interest in building Batmobile. So many people show up and say give me the info! Lol but a forum is more like a community where there's give and take. Sooooooooooooooo many talk about building but quickly lose interest and they are gone. It's hard from our perspective to answer so many questions then the person is gone. Hope that helps explain. BWD

Hey kevin that's good to know. The gruff thing. I've been accused of the same thing. I think the problem with texting is people don't hear if you are being sarcastic or just think yourself to be funny. I spend a lot of time with my business having to suck up to people so when I get here I just like to say things the way they are. Welcome!
I always felt the 66 looked like a clown car with the big pin stripes and labels explaining what you were looking at ie "detect o scope". Lol but here I am building one. I haven't started a build log on it yet but I'm getting dangerously close to doing so. My goal is to finish by February but we will see. I may start to post just so I can meet all you wonderful newbies. Anywho welcome to the dark side! BWD

Hey Jett it was great meeting you in Utah. I'm finally breaking down and building a 66. I hope it comes out as nice as yours is. My business partner Harold said I don't care what kind of donor you use just don't let it be a Ford. Lol I loved your Chevy donor but had to go the lincoln route. BWD

Dave thats a pretty cool build but was there ever a 50's 60 besides the future that was produced by ford or gm that could be used? Seems like the old t-birds or impalas kind of had that look to them anyway would be nice to do a real metal body.

Hey Nitro man its been a long time glad to see you here. I read recently the two fiberglass 66 batmobiles Barris built was on the 66 Ford Galaxy frame. I have often thought it would be great to learn how to build the steel sheet bodies. But Im sure I don't have a lot more gas left in my tank to learn that. I remember reading the 55 Futura steel body was handcrafted in Europe. I think Italy for a huge about of money. Ive read a lot on fabricating in sheet metal and my painter just built a steel roof for his chopped 49 merc. Its amazing after the welding how much bondo was laid down. Now that I have a 66 body I could see how a person could create a plug to work the sheetmetal on but like I said Im winding down in the fabrication business. But it would be hella cool BWD

Hi Guys,

New guy here, offering my obligatory first post to introduce myself.

28+ Years in aerospace including the latest 5th Generation stealth jet fighter out of here in Fort Worth. Several current hot rods, mostly Shelbys, a Harley and Zeus, my F-650 XUV 6 door custom which weighs in around 14K pounds empty and holds 320 gallons of diesel in the side tanks.

Looking forward to getting to know a couple of the veteran builders as I plan my 89 build, which will be very aerospace themed. Looking to order a body soon.

and I might have even attached a picture of Zeus for everyone wondering what the heck a F-650 XUV is....eXtreme Utility Vehicle.

Thanks!

Larry

Zeus
Bat-what?.....Na, it’s just an oversized badass big black car (with optional machine guns)

Aloha! Just starting my journey to an 89 Batmobile. I have contacted one kit supplier and read a couple of the build logs posted here. Some good information. The first thing I need to do is get a space to do the work. I've been looking for a garage to rent or even buy. I may have to build another garage behind my house.

Anyway, good to be here and I look forward to learning much more.
