I've been curious about this for some time. How much difference was there between the '66 and '89 bats, as pertains to the afterburner operation? Is the system used today much different or pretty much the same?

Yep 89 afterburner was made in UK so is sturdy, well engineered, reliable and works
66 was a paint pot

"It's a hot air balloon burner". There you go. Now why couldn't one of you silly asses just say that? I hope you realize I'm just kidding with you. Thank you both for your replies and for posting the video. AWESOME look at what's under the dek lid of the '89 Bat! I always assumed for the most part it was empty. Now I want to build one with the lid off!:

Almost always use "Hot Balloon burner". Control is the key

Silly question, has anyone come across one that works for this application that's not too massive? What about heat mitigation?

I think the hot air balloon burner was only used for the Onstar commercials. Not sure how they did in the films.
