KingKyle & Darrelman...those wheels give me fits in my dreams! And even the dreaming "me" can't get the wheels to fit on my imaginary frame. It might help if I saw some in real life. Post up some pics of what you find, please. Also, my commitment level (dream) is lower than yours since you're in the execution stage. I was thinking of starting with a v8, 4 seat, street legal sandrail and going from there. I'm pretty sure those wouldn't hold dual 44" swampers. But, like I've said before, I wouldn't be doing a "replica" just a "inspired by" type of Tumbler.

I talked with Bob Dullam awhile back and I think he had a company in Colorado construct his dually rims...I think he said he just gave them the size and offset and they will build you whatever you want. I will have to see if I can't find the info somewhere. It won't be cheap but everyone I have talked to says its a very bad idea to use dually spacers because it is so dangerous. I'm not a "car guy" so I figured I would take that advice as the tumbler has "Monster Truck" size Duallies. The nice thing about having the Tumbler in the Computer is you can scale it Proportionaly I.E when you scale the width it will auto Scale the length So it's not Skewed...I have spent hundreds of hours modeling my tumbler and it still isn't even close but at some point it will be close enough...

Ok. I got to looking and looks like Bob made his dually rims...Man that guy has some Mad skills to build that thing mostly from scratch...I can really appreciate the people that build the vehicles without the help of a computer and those that do. I have spent hundreds of hours modeling the tumbler on the computer only to tear it back down again. I'm not a mechanic so I expect to run into way more issues due to my inexperience so having the computer to help is invaluable to me. However the computer isn't perfect but it can sure get you close. How Bob Dullam could "eyeball" the tumbler and build it the way he did is beyond impressive...

Thanks Stevo,
I figured he had custom wheels made. I've had custom wheels made for one of my race cars and it was close to 5 grand for a set. I didnt factor this into my budget so i'm going to have a set of 17" dually wheels widened to 8" and run the 39.5 / 11 / 17 swamper. Its the best I can do I think. I also found out hummer H1 wheels have the 8 lug 6.5 bolt pattern and run the hub flush with the face of the wheel. THey can be used with major spacing.
Another issue I just ran into is, how the heck will I service the motor lol. I currently have the motor between the seats, set back a little. (front of the motor is even with my shoulders). I plan on doing the gull wing door setup like the parker brothers. So..... the only two options are to build an "H" removable tray that can drop the engine out the bottom. OR scrap the gull wing doors and build a top door like the actual tumbler, thats dumb getting in and out of and good luck finding a cherry picker to pull that lump out of the top.
Sorry for thinking while typing, maybe someone has an idea. The "H" tray with gull wing doors is winning right now.

They're folded in half... they are super wide. If you mean thinner like floppy, yes they are super thin because they are a drag tire. they require tubes for street use. I decided on these because they are DOT street legal. The actual tire is a dirt tire.

Small update, burning lots of steel. Looking good so far. Currently making motor mounts, then I'll lift the chassis up to ride height 11" then start on the front suspension!

Very nice. And I can understand why you chose those tyres. I wonder how they look on a Pod. And you say they are road legal?... cool. What's the tyre code? Might look them up over here.

Yup DOT road legal, but Hoosier will say they advise against road use to cover their asses. The tire is a QuickTime Dot drag tire. I have the 31/18/15
