I've been doing the turtle shells for a few years as a way to guage my progress in fiberglassing.

These turtle shell were made with molds that just had gel coat instead of tooling gel coat. That will have to be my next improvement. The coloring in the gel coat is just some things I have worked out that gives it a turtle shell appearance.

Now this is my new shell that is a Hawaiian sea turtle and its pretty big. The previous species is called a ridgeback turtle.

I used the turtle shell because it is pretty difficult to get perfect. Now I am going to practice on lambo parts. Again somewhat hard to get perfect. This is the lambo rear wing

I still get excited when I pull the parts. Its like a box of candy you never know what your going to get. I thought of selling my turtle shells but Im emotionally attached to them and cant part with any of them just yet. lol

After trimming the edges off the shells go up in my garage. Its been a great guage of how Im improving. We can all improve right?

The big one was done by sponging the gel coat on. Have you ever heard of such a thing. lol wel I have a real nice time trying different things.

Here is the underside of that side scoop. I was going to smash the scoop with a hammer to see how much force it could take but alas I could not bring myself to do it. So your just going to have to believe it is super light and strong....
