Hello, my name is Dave aka Big Wave Dave. The nickname given to me by my buddies in the swimming pool industry. I have been building custom swimming pools in the Central Valley of California for over 30 years. I currently own a construction company with my partner Harold and thats pretty much my source of income. Building replica Batmobiles is pretty much my hobby and passion. I currently have a replica Tumbler I call the Tribute Rumbler (www.tributerumbler.com) and an replica 89 Batmobile I call the Crimefighter Extreme (www.batbuilder.com). Tou can LIKE me on Facebook under Bat Builder or check out some of my videos under Tribute Rumbler on Youtube.

Hey d.psiras, well this is kind of an ongoing project. Its the Crimefighter Extreme which I put together pretty rapidly to get it into the Hot August Nights car show in Reno, Nevada. Since we are done with our last car show this has been planned for a while to finish the 89. Especially making this body as straight as humanly possible. In fact I have an autobody guy in my garage this morning and we are on day 4 of sanding this beast down. The body has been stripped of all the parts and removed off the chassis. Tomorrow will be a day of fiberglassing parts with my main worker Rick he is very detailed but has very little time to work with me. My goal is to next have it taken to a friends bodyshop and have some high fill primer with a guide coat then blocked sanded again. I'm going to have one guy look at the other guys body work until everyone says it looks perfect. I always seem to have one guy pointing out another guys mistakes so by having two really good guys finishing the body independently my hope is to have them both say "its perfect". Yeah I know this is crazy expensive but I am not painting this car again until its dead on perfect....No excuses... Then the car will be repainted red of course.....BWD

Wow that was weird we ran out of stuff to do. It was near an 8 hour day and the whole CF has been sanded. I'm filling all the holes we drilled all over the body. Did it the right way using resin and fiberglass. I really enjoy this fiberglass stuff. Got to get the canopy and engine cover finished but thats for tomorrow. Hope to get the CF up to Sacramento to be blocked sanded this upcoming week. Took some pics for you guys....BWD

Got the body lifted high so we can get some of the underside. Usually this is NEVER seen but on the trailer I get some negative comments. But now it will look good even if the car is over your head. Im just saying.Lol...BWD

I've found a couple rough spots by running my hand over the body. It seems to work best wearing a latex glove. I can't wait to see what Rick says tomorrow. I will have him mark some of the areas and Rick will definitely find those spots. This is looking pretty flat.

Had the metal waterjetted louvers in some recessed tray on the body but after I fiberglassed them in I could hear them pulling loose so I fabricated the louvers out of fiberglass. I think because the fiberglass and metal expand and contract at different rates it pulled loose. With them being made out of fiberglass they work a lot better. BWD

Had a major dip in the hood but we fiberglassed it in and feathered it out. With all the movement and twisting the repair looks solid....BWD

Had a major dip in the roof too. We roughened up a large area and layered fiberglass over it. With all the stress it looks good too. Thanks for looking....BWD
