Since I am currently ordering parts for my 89 build based on an 1995 Impala SS with a Doug Hines kit I am looking for a suitable size for centerline rims + Mickey Thompson tyres. Does anyone know if the Impala SS rear end is the same as in regular Caprice cars? Which sizes did you use for the rims and tyres to get a smooth look (especially which offset)? Martin

Thank you for the info. The bolt pattern is not the issue, though. The thing is that on various pages the Impala SS track width front is 61,8 ", the rear is 62,3 ", some say the rear is 62,7 " or 60,7 ". So I do not know which backspacing will be right. On the batberry build log "brcewane" bought these rims for this Caprice base car: Rear: 15x14w 3" 5/16 backspacing Front: 15x10w 3" 5/16 backspacing The front wheels seem as they are flush with the fender. On the rears the wheel overlaps the rear fender: I want the wheels to be flush with the fender. Any thoughts on the sizes you used (especially brcewane )?

Great, thank you for the link brcewane! Now my remaining question is how much do the rear wheels overlap the fender? In the pic it seems like 1,5" to 2"? Would you buy these sizes again or would you change them anyhow?

The rear tires stick out about 1" from the top of the fender. I took the measuring tape and looked down. I didn't run a plumb line, so that is a guestimate.
It would be pretty tough to get the front wheels "flush" because of the curvature of the wheel opening. The closer you get to the ground the more the fender tucks in towards the body. If you had the wheel flush with the body at the top of the fender it would look like it was sticking at a lot just because of how the body wraps down.
You can see from the below picture how my tires are flush with the bottom of the fender, but looked tucked in at the top.
I would keep my wheel order the same. I'm quite happy with them. At most I may run a small spacer on the front, but we'll see how it all works out when the final fiddling is done.
Also, you need to run a 1" spacer on the rear drivers side. That fender is 1" wider than the passenger. You would never know it to look at it, but it is. It is one of Doug's tips
