Did you use a brush to paint it?

I used that crap ass POR15 I followed the directions and did all the prep work as directed and it came out like crap. Years ago I used POR15 when it first came out and all you would have to do for prep is wire brush the metal and wipe any oil or grease of the surface and it came out beautifully. They have since changed their formula and it requires a massive amount of prep and It still come out like crap. I do not recommend POR for any thing that can be seen...

Hey Kevin, I'm a lurker that's just now starting to post. I'm planning on starting a batpod build and I have several questions for you as you clearly ride regular bikes as well. I don't just want my pod to be a showpiece, I want to be able to use the thing on a regular basis. I have a group of people helping with this project to help address several of the performance issues and any feedbike from a rider like yourself on how it handles would be tremendous.
It's been swell, but the swelling's going down...

First of all you have to remember is that this bike is a movie prop. It was built to look cool not to perform. You can change the tires to make it perform better but it takes away from the "looks". The front end has a spring shock that can be replaced with an electric adjustable shock that you can adjust the ride hight an the fly like the bike in the movie, butt it is a hard tail to add rear shocks takes away from the bike. http://www.trickyair.com/ There is a bike out there that looks alot like the Bat Pod its powered with a HD Hot Rod motor handles great and is fast. It has a single fork on the front and back. I can't remember the name of the bike but it is built in Fla and is a on off a drawing and sells for 70 grand.

Ok, that's two shades of awesome. Batpod or not, still amazing. I'm ok with a hard tail, I was concerned about the steel front end but I think we have addressed some of that. At some point in the next year we're planning to go to model to see what tires we can work out. I know it will diminish the 'pod look, but I want something that won't kill me if I take it out, and after reading some of the stuff by and about Jean-Pierre Goy (the stuntrider from the movie set) I appreciate how dangerous this thing might really be. Large (300-320) chopper tires might be a compromise but we'll have to work out getting them centered on the frame properly, along with the balance of the bike. I want to change as little as I can.
The upside to hard tail is that you're not rattling you "6o'clock" the same as you do in a regular seat. Maybe your kidneys won't take the same beating! Downside, I hesitate to think what's getting abused in the batpod seat...
In my quest for center hub steering assemblies I found this bike, the Harrier. Way out of my price range but I thought I share some too...
It's been swell, but the swelling's going down...
