I thought I would post up some pictures of what the paint/color scheme is going to be for my Batmobile. I'll be making a twin of my Subaru (aka the Tumbler) so that I can take them both to car shows as a pair. The paint is a flat dark graphite with hints of bronze that has a lot of metal fleck in it. In the shade it is absolutely flat, but in the direct sun the metal flake comes out of it. It's really quite odd and unique. It also has a rubberized texture that feels like 200 grit sandpaper and is very forgiving when painting.

People always call it flat black, but it isn't quite black. I actually won best paint at a national car show with it and it was all done in my garage

I'll also be color matching the rims to my Subaru which are a dark bronze that tends to blend in with the car's paint but offers just a slight difference that is noticeable.

You will see from the pictures below how street lights affect the paint. It looks quite wild driving around at night. My Subaru is where I've been honing my fabrication and mechanical skills over the last 5-6 years in order to prepare for my Batmobile project.

So I'm sure you could convey from all my post that I'm a die hard Chevy fan, but that Subaru is quite bad ass! Paint and all.

Thanks guys

There's a lot of blood sweat and tears into that build, and it is fun to drive with 450hp AWD. But it also prepared me for my Batmobile build. Primarily learning that:

- Nothing ever works the right way the first time
- Everything costs twice as much as you expected

I think I've found my donor car

There's a family friend from my hometown who has a 91 caprice with 93,000 miles on it and it has been stored for the last 2 years. The car has been babied and he was originally thinking about keeping the car for a long time as a classic. But now he has too many vehicles and it has to go.

When he learned that I would be putting a Batmobile on top of it he said I could have it for $500

So I'm going to check it out on Monday. It hasn't been started for 2 years so they were going to charge up the battery and try and get her started.

Fingers-crossed

Looks Like a good base . Will you be painting your car the same color as the subaru. So many shots in the movie look more gray than black .
cangrats on the buy and build.
