Hey Richiefedele, I was checking out the craigslist for vehicles in Melborne, Australia. I noticed a couple of Chevy pick-up trucks that were around $3000. It might be possible to get a 2-wheel drive Chevy truck as a donor. You would have to look at using drop spindles on the front and possible do a c notch over the rear axle to drop the frame height. Staying with a fuel injected engine would keep the engine height as low as possible. Is there a reason pick-up trucks are so much cheaper than the automobiles? Just wondering...BWD

Hey BWD, Thanks for the input. Umm well the older classic cars are worth more cause there hard to find, most are imported and most are collectable cars that people want so its like a high demand thingy. i spoke to the guy that does chevy parts and he can do me a 65 impala with all running gear for $2500, thats pretty good considering. My car is only for looks and show, i only want it to run just to move it, plus im building it bolt for bolt i dont mind added more steel anywhere i have to. The shell is only 270 kgs, most of our cars are over a tonne so i need the weight i guess. I could get a pick up truck but i didnt want to many height issues but its a good thought. You think the impala would be ok? i would pay to get it professionally extended and strengthened.
Cheers

That's not bad considering it's australia and other more expensive kits. It's still a good chunk of money, everything is more expensive when you barely have money and eat cup noodles to compensate. = [ Great job! Who did you get your kit from? Do you think it would be any cheapper if shipped to US?

Well the kit did come from the US so shipping would be nothing at all plus you dont have to pay the currency difference also. My kit came from gotham cruisers i hope it as good as people say it is and all the money i have spent. ill put p pics in a few days when it arrives then start a build log log for people to see. Cheers

Thanks for the info! I'm still doing my research on which body to buy. All I know for sure is not to buy from Mark Towle I'm glad I found this site.
