ya...I was thinking of that , but I would have to add a lot more to the build, I'll have to check the funds in the bank to see if I can do something like that.

Well...I checked the funds and it's a no go ...I'll have to go along with the wrap-a-round idea. I jumped onto the cad and did a stress test with 700 lbs and a safty factor of 12 ( 12, thats bad) and it held up. now the design that I did the test differs from whats on my post a few days ago..theres more to it.

I'll be posting pictures soon.

right now its 3:00 in the morning and Im trying to get sleepy so I started to mess around with the cad...I think there a little cool.

A snow flake

so I went out to day and did this...

now when i'm done there is going to be more to it then what you see here but I put the springs in place and everything (as it is) was realy stable with no flexing of these supports ...now when I explaned the stress test that i did with the finished design (700 lbs) that was a test of 700 lbs on each one which means that the total weight would be 1400 lbs that both of these should be able to handle....hopefully..

So I went out to the garage to day and looked at the build..and thought ...ah its kind of cold out here and I'm not sure what to do..not to motivated..so I went inside and ended up pounding down 3/4 of a pot of coffee in 25 min. and "BOOM" I was on a mission.....

I went out and did this....I took some 2" flat stock and cut it to length to finish up one of the supports for the front suspensions. I then set up the drill press to cut an offset 2" hole in that piece, I placed it on the support with a 3/4 axle bearing and realised that the flang bracket would be a problem, so I pulled out the grinder...

once that was done I removed the bearing and welded the stock to the support..

Then placed the bearing back on. After that I started to work on the connecters that will go on the bottom of the stearing rods...

I then placed them on the rods and welded...I used the locking collar on the end to make sure they were the same distance on both rods.

These rods were a massive pain in the rear, I asked for 3/4 rod but they gave me something that was 1 or 2 mm too big so I had to grind the whole thing down, that sucked.

But any ways, I then made these ...the holders for the lower end of the rods they substitute for the linier bearings or pillow block bearings that alot of the big builds are doing.

I then placed them on the rods, put the rods in place and welded...

then connected it all together for the right side of the kart..then grabed my vice grips and griped the top of the rod and ...it works

.....Now for the left side.

hay thanks guys ...I know that alot of people are finding my build educational and I'm sure that theres a few that are "what the hell is he doing it that way for?"

but Ive blown up here, this is what I have done in the past few days

got the suspention in front done, sorry no close-ups of that (trade secret )

but I started to work on the steering shaft ...I didnt want to do a direct link because I knew that it would be a fight to turn so I decided to do a rotation off-set link in line with the shaft, these are the pieces

so when I got that done I went to the break and gas ...they look cheesy because I was running out of small stuff.

after I got those on I went back to the steering and started mounting it...

after I mounted the shaft I made the tie rods that come frome the arm rods to the off-set .........

I WAS DONE .....  so I thought

I went into the house and poured a shot of jagermeister for me and Crystal (my sweety) and said "lets have a taost to getting this far." gulp " Now come out side and push me around on this thing so I know that the steering is adjusted right"

well that didnt go over to well so I did the pushing and she steered ,the kids were on it too ,the brake doesnt work to well I think I should switch to a solid rod, but other than the brake the thing worked AWESOME. I was so excited that I told myself that "I will be driving this in a few hours" so I pushed it over to the other kart to swap the motor off....I got the motor off and bolted, but then it happened, I took off the Driven part of the clutch and everything came to a stop...

the jack shaft is 3/4 , the hole on the clutch is 5/8...the damn thing wont fit

..........NNNNNNNOOOOOOOO...........

Well after a few intense 5 min. I cooled off and smiled and realised what I was building, took a few stepes back with the camera and ....

WELL.... time to start looking for a clutch with a 3/4 center...

Looking great man!!! I would have had some progress on my build if I hadn't found out that my front drivers side spring on my car busted

I'm itching to get back at it
