huge batman fan! I'm at a point where I want to get started on building a 1989 batmobile. Is there step by step instructions for building this awesome car and where do I buy the parts? Hopefully you can help me get started.

I just read a post on the 66 Batmobile board Where Don Curry claimed to have bought a 66

Batmobile from Bob Butts. Clint Young, Bob Johnson, Joan Butts and I all know this is just not true, and do many others. Don as you probably know has screwed Bob Butts in the past. Bob did however did sell him a hood because he couldn’t get it right. Don promised not to copy the hood and we all know how that turned out. See our link http://www.chickslovethecar.com/board/Batmobile_Topic71343-22-18.aspx

I am just tired of all the lies he spews out, he needs to be called out on this one.

I just wish Don would quit his BS and lies, and his nose buried so far up Marks ass. I wonder if he knows that Mark has already turned him along with the rest of us to WB?

I just read through the comments from the first post to about 49 pages and it really is amazing to see how many nasty comments Don Currie left over the years. I just submitted a comment and it was pending approval from the admin. I guess that explains why don hasn't left any comments recently.

regardless of 'who said what', instead of dwelling on the past, we should look to the future. What does each of us have to share with the other? If we make a change to a part, doesn't it make it ours? if someone else takes our part and improves it, then it makes that part theirs.

I believe we all have something to share, and each of us can make our own car the 'best there is!'. . . especially since that is a very subjective statement.

I joined this forum for help with my planning and build, by inquiring of others who have gone through the same.

Let's test the waters with a question. . .

I am using a 79 grand marquis wagon frame and running gear 351W, with a posi rear, wheel disk brake. . . No computer garbage to worry about!. frame extension is longer. oh well. . .gotta cut the frame regardless. Can anybody tell me, in inches, distance from center hub front wheel to firewall on the 89 shell? I don't want to move the engine too far back.

Has anyone ever answered how they installed the wipers on the windshield? What about the washer unit?

Those in search of bucket seats. . . don't forget your local salvage yard. . . most yards can't GIVE AWAY the interior of their cars! (Ex. Recently picked up the complete interior of a 08 Sonata. . . works great in a 40 ford rebuild. front seats, rear seat, carpet, center console. . . $50)

Lets pass along all the useful information we can!

Negativity is a two way street. . .

You may want to rethink using a Ford for your base.

Since you are using a frame that no one else has used it would be hard to give you the right dimensions to your car. To my knowledge no one has used a Ford platform for this car. If you weren’t aware the car is based on an old Chevrolet Impala, using anything other than a Chevrolet would only devalue your car. The wheel base is 141” in length If you use a 90’s Chev Caprice you would need to extend your frame 21 ¼” to get the right wheel base.

Hope this helps

thanks kevin,

yeah, i know the original was built using 2 79 impala's. as for the platform, i felt it really didn't make a difference, most ford street rods are built using chevy running gear, it only seemed natural to mix things up a bit. I'm not sure what you mean by devaluing the car, though. as long as it is built to be a reliable runner, platform really shouldn't matter all that much. I was interested in the measurement from center front wheel to firewall only to determine if this shorter frame could in fact be utilized. Last thing i want to do is move the engine too far back, only to find out it is in the passenger cabin! This info would also allow me to secure new longer driveshaft if this would be the case. Any info you can supply would be a great help. thanks again.

Was wondering if anyone in pa would be willing to rent there 1989 batman car. Its not for me but my bf. The day is not set. I've been with him for about 7 years now and we both know the ring is around the corner. While he gets the funds I wanted to try to get some funds to rent his fav.
