I'd go so far to say it's the best Batman film yet. I can be a tough critic. Previously, I enjoyed 2005's "Batman Begins" and 1989 "Batman" more or less equally, and was hoping the new film would be just as good. Well it was better than that ... If I were to grade them, it'd be: Batman - 80% Batman Returns - 69% Batman Forever - 49% Batman & Robin - 20% (since a few sequences were fun, although I did walk out of the cinema before the ending) Batman Begins - 84% The Dark Knight - 89% The new film has a good story that nicely develops from the previous. The acting is great, as are the action scenes and special effects. I especially enjoyed the idea of Batman going 'global' (doing his thing in China). The only thing that slightly let it down for me was the editing. At times the pacing was a little off, resulting in the film being slightly too long. For me, the mini-story involving the bloke who discovers that Wayne is Batman, and Wayne saving him, either didn't really need to be there or should have been cut down slightly. And, although not a criticism as such, I think Dent / Two Face should have lived (so as to be in a later film) - although I understand why his death works for the overall story. I wholeheartedly recommend the film. It is by far the best film of its genre. On a different matter ... as with the previous movie, with some of the filming for "The Dark Knight" being done on location in England, I have visited these sites (Buckinghamshire, Liverpool). As a fan, it's always fun to think this is where the movies were shot.
