you guys sure know how to make a guy feel better , thanks so much, honestly. If it werent for this site, and the guys on the board, i wouldnt be so inspired to do what i do, nor would i have anything to tell my wife about when i get home. "ooo, let me tell you, i saw Jack do this today to his car!" or "man Conrad is already half way thru with his 1/2 scale Tumbler, and i havent even started lol" It honestly is a moment, when "thanks" just doesnt quite say it enough.

Small Update, i took the paper panels that i created and decide to cast molds of them just for the fun. I made plaster molds (yeah shocked me to since its mostly water) and i sculpted myself a front tire out of foam, i made a make-shift mandral out of Knex and a drill to create a round shape, i got pictures but those will have to be posted later. For now, i will share these. Sorry for the low resolution.

I'm not sure im happy with the way the tire came out, a "lil bean" suggested saving it for another project....perhaps a 1/6 scale Bat Pod. hmm...

Two Quick updates, i have all but about 4 parts left to mold on the 1/6 scale and then i will be able to pop myself out a fiberglass replica, i am CONSIDERING re-molding it after i make a fiberglass replica and bondo all the waves, considering i was molding paper afterall, that stuff doesnt like water. And as far as Eric's 1/2 scale, as i was doing the husband thing and taking out the trash, someone had dropped off 8 2x2" boards as trash, there was nothing wrong with them, they just didnt want them, so i snatched them up, and took them home, hopefully this will be the begins of his build. Also i am considering making his body panels out of Core-plastic, i just gotta order a good amount of it to begin with. Past that, this project is well on its way .

OK time for updates
First i would like to backtrack a bit and show you pictures of HOW that front tire was created, as i meantioned before, i used a 'homemade' mandrel, or lathe, whatever. My wife operated the drill as i cut the wheel to shape.

then cut it to shape

Also, the first cab i built i didnt use a printer to assist me, and it came out looking wrong, i couldnt put my finger on it, but something was not right, after i rebuilt it using a printer for assistance, i soon found that the sides were a full inch shorter than they were suppose to be, with this error fixed, the panels fit much nicer. The black cabin is the wrong one, the white cabin is the correct one (and no thats not meant to be racial)

Ok and as far as the body peices go, i took the parts (about 13 total) and cast molds out of plaster of what i have built so far out of paper. To do this i just mixed up the plaster, and applied it to the paper parts with a brush, starting lightly, then adding more coats until we reach abotu a quarter inch thickness. Here is a shot of the cab getting its first coat.

and here is a shot of the mold of the front fork, even tho it just looks like a white blur.

THEN i took those plaster molds, cleaned them up, and painted them with some duplicolor black spray paint. Sadly i didnt take pictures of this step.
Unfortunately, the PB's Power breaker i was using, didnt act well as a mold release and the parts ended up sticking to the plaster molds. I had to destroy the molds in order to get my fiberglass parts, and they themselves didnt turn out so pretty. Which i guess is fine, because i had told myself that i was gonna cast molds, clean the fiberglass parts up real nice, fix all the waves, and RE-cast them again. I'll just know next time not to use PB's or Plaster, I think im gonna try Chilebeans fleece idea.
Heres some shots of one of the forks, as you can see, the plaster just didnt want to let go of that fiberglass, i have ALOT of work ahead of me.

i showed Eric, and he wasnt to happy about the results either, his facial expression says it all

Hope to have more soon!

Shaggy, I was checking the forum on various builds when I stumbled on a post about the 1/2 scale tumbler. I thought I found the plans of the go-cart tumbler. The post is about a month ago. I did see a picture of a cute baby named Eric. I have two girls of my own. Please keep me informed on your progress.

this is the one and the same, it starts off as a 1/6 scale Tumbler, then a 1/2 Tumbler, and POSSIBLY a full scale (over the 8 foot limit) Tumbler, but i havent gotten up enough urge just yet to go that route. The build i have done so far is on the 1/6, this is for my own entertainment. But later the 1/2 Scale will start, and will be given to my son....even tho he's only 3 months old right now.
I have a possible out-of-state move coming up, so i really dont want to create to much in items to carry up with me. So thats why the 1/2 scale hasnt seen daylight as far as materials go just yet.
Thanks for the post! and dont spoil your daughters
