Hey, I thought maybe you guys could lend me some insight. I'm not a real technical person and I'm not all that much of a handy man. But when push comes to shove I try to build something.
I have been working on assembling a Joker Costume for some time now, and I'm making a bit of progress. However, one thing I cant find is one of those Classic Bang Guns. You know what Im talking about. The revolver with the rod that shoots out of it with the flag that reads... BANG!
Yeah. Online they have Tubes that are cut in half and when you pull the trigger the tube opens up...
That just wont Cut it.
Does any body have any ideas on how to go about building one of these things... or know where one would be available for purchase?

Right... but see This is the same thing I was talking about with the tube that folds open.
I can find those all over the place. Heck I can build one for about $5. All it is... is a handle, with a lever. A Pvc Tube cut in half with a spring at the far end. When you switch the lever... Hangon...
TLOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTS
TLOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTS
HHLL
HH.LL
HH ..LL
HH
OK So yeah... H is for handle. L is for Lever T is for Tube and S is for Spring. O is for Opening.
You pull the lever... and it slides back letting the spring at the tip flop the tube open... inside the tube there is a flag... that falls down.
What I was hopefully going for was the classic one.. the one seen in the comics or the animated series... with the rod. Prepare to behold more of my amazing letter diagrams
B stands for Barrel, T for Trigger, R for Rod, F for Flag, H for Handle
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB..........FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
HHHT............................................FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
HHH.T...........................................FFFFF"BANG!"FFF
HHH..T..........................................FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
HHH .............................................FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
HHH
See what I mean?... Hopefully. I find it easier to draw things to explain them than use words.
If anyone has any ideas for that, that would be excellent.
I appreciate the attempt though...
EDIT... Ok... so my spaces didnt work out in the diagrams... I replaced spaces with .'s so hope thats not too confusing.

Hey S Mazl, i have a good idea that would be easy, and fairly cost efficient, might run you around the $20 to $30 mark at most. But i think it would work just fine for what you want to do. I will post a drawing just as SOON as i can get to it, im pretty tied up with alot of projects at the moment. Hope i can help! ~Shaggy

That would be Great, thanks... Names Steve by the way.
I mean I've found fake guns that I could put a spring in.. but I dotn think taht would work too well...
Im excited to see your ideas. Thanks

OK, I got a quick second and started drawing, its not completed, nor is it finished in all the mechanicals. I am still thinking about the easiest way to create a spring loaded, spinning/clamping unit inside the bullet chamber without going megaboard with the mulah. I watched the 89 Batman movie with Nichelson, and noticed that he flag does indeed hang a HAIR outside of the barrel of the gun, i thought "hey that could work to my advantage!" so i disguesed part of the gun as the holder for the flag, that will keep the flag wound as it sits inside the chamber until "fired" Basically take a cheap METAL cap gun and remove the...side...thingy..from the barrel that runs the length of the barrel, this is what will hold the "bang" flag wound tight while sitting inside. You can see the part i am talking about down the side of this actual gun, and see it cut out on my drawing. I will explain more tomorrow when i get back on, but for now, gotta finish up at work and get home. Just look at this, and i will give more information later.

A metal Cap gun.. Geeze... I didnt even think about that. This might really work!
Keep me posted on ideas on how to get this thing to actually work. Thanks for the help!
Edit: Im looking for Cap guns at the moment... did you mean the ones that used the 6 ring caps... (Looks like a Hexene ring) or the ones that use Roll Caps with the half of the Chamber that slides open?
Need to know what to look for on the internet. Thanks.

Um....i really am not sure at the moment, this is where i get stuck because i am unsure of the mechanics on the inside of the gun. IM THINKING that you need the "roll" cap gun that you can fold back one side of the 6 bullet barrell, and feed the roll inside there. Not the kind that uses the 6 shot plastic ring that you feed into the barrel chamber. We dont need the barrel to spin on this gun, it will interfear with the workings. The parts that i have worked out (mechanically) in my mind are obviously what i have drawn. And what the flag will attach to will be a hallow shaft with the end that enters the chamber flared, that will be big enough to fit inside the chamber with the flag attatched to it. Inside that hallow shaft will be a spring permanantly attached to the hallow shaft at the far end. That spring will slip over another shaft (thinner than the hallow shaft of course) and will attatch itself to the inside of the gun permanantly. Wow, this sounds technical written all out like that, but its honestly simple built i assure you. The part i slip up at (and its because i am unsure of the mechanicals of the gun) is that you need to find a way to use the trigger armeature inside the gun to hold the hallow shaft that the flag is rolled up on, and when you squeeze the trigger, on the inside it slips off the hallow shaft, allowing the spring to throw the flag out of the chamber, and once the metal shaft that is built on the BOTTOM of the flag to act as a weight is competely clear of the gun it will unravel itself displaying the "bang" sign. Thats all i have for right now, we have brewery inspections today so i will TRY to get to more drawings on what im talking about. Until then, take care!

OK new drawing, this basically illustrates what i was talking about up there in the previous post. You dont have to do it like this of course, it was just an idea, someone else on the board might have a better one out there, who knows. Hope it helps And you definately want the roll caps gun, not the plastic circle cap gun.
