chilebean, ya the foam I use is called "foam latex". If you look at the Batman SE DVD I did exactly what they did. I even have exactly the same equipment even brand of. Way different than 2part poly foam, if that's what you're thinking. you can't get polyfoam into molds this size, and even if you did, the results would not be the same.

These costumes if done in foam latex are a massive project. you have to inject everthing, and it takes possibly several years to get foam latex down well enough to get unflawed pieces. If a piece is flawed, you can't go back and fix it. you just dump it. I've been running foam latex for over 15 yrs.

The belt is epoxy resin, each piece is rodded together like a watchband, and the center buckle "C" links pivot perpendicular to the rest of the belt. This helps the belt conform to the human body. Lotta little tiny stuff.

A friend of mine said that someone he knew said they saw a batmobile going in and out of Downs fiberglass over here in Lawton, Mi. wondered if anyone heard about this. They were just bought out by a bigger company. Don't know which Batmobile they are talking about. I live about 15 min. from Downs. I'll have to check it out when I go to the sunday night Jam session at the Old Hat in Lawton.

Foam latex is what I meant by "Hot Foam". I have used the poly foam and your right that would definitely not work. I haven't seen the SE DVD yet so I need to pick that up. Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure Downs makes the bodies for the Batmobile monster truck. That may have been what your friend saw.

Hey youngbat, I have a question for you. I'm very impressed by the Batman costume you made, and I'm wanting to put together a Batgirl costume. Any advice on how I can put one together, or would you be willing to help me with it?? Thanks!!
