I have two words for you, doooo it!

Gathering parts is what I'm doing, I have 3 parts now You have to start somewhere.

You were going to start sculpting the car anyhow its just a little bigger now And it's still a model, a working model.

I was afraid someone might ask that. Well, I already had a Ford 390cid and I picked up a C6 for it and found some spindles with new rotors and brakes at the salvage yard on an E-350, so I had to get those. And of course I asked my wife before I bought the parts  I made a parts check list and as I have money I look for parts.

Hopefully I can start a build log next christmas time.

Hey Chilibean, that's great... Now I'm just guessing are these parts for the Tumbler or an 89 Batmobile....That 390 engine is a very dependable and strong powerplant. Great for turning four 44" TSLs but might be a little tall for an 89 Batmobile...So which is it?  So I guess you are a Ford guy......BWD

All's i got is the beginnings of a stripped frame ( one's cut in half, one's bent lol)  about 4 engines, two transmissions, and 3 axles.

Some of those parts are mine, some are my dads scrap, (2 of those engines, 1 transmission, and 2 axles) but i dont see him saying "no" if I ask for any of it.

Basically i have a "foundation" to start with.   OH and after the ultrasound last night, my wife said that she doesnt mind me going ahead and starting on the Batmobile NOW, but make sure she gets her baby stuff first.   I told her i can definatly do that!

(i swear its a boy lol)

Those parts are for a tumbler, and yep I'm a Ford guy GM is ok too though. I think I'll scale it down to 8' wide just so its easyer to deal with and park and such. And that would put the rear tires to 37", a little lighter and a little cheaper

Shaggy, If I had those parts I don't think I could handle not starting an 89'. Do you have an indoor place to work on the body?  If you look at the Swede build they have a pipe in the floor on either side of the sculpt to measure from. If you could bolt a couple of pipes donwn that would be great. And I would check on the local styrofoam supplyers. You should be able to get large blocks to work with. At least bigger than you get at Home Depot and Lowes.

I was watching a "how its made" and they showed styrofoam being initialy cast as a huge block, I think it was 4'x4'x16'

It looks like you may need to make your 89' a four seater, so you can drive it more when you have your baby.

Hey Chilebean, sadly i dont have an indoor place to work on yet.   As you can tell from my pictures on my "Other" builds section, I've had to "waller in the dirt" all my life.   "mud-mechanic, Shade-tree-mechanic, that sort of thing.

I've been pushing for a shop to be built for about 3 years now, and not a single dime has been put towards that fund, because i cant spare it right now .   But in due time maybe i can get out of this corny 16 grand a year job and get something better paying, but doing the same thing.

Lol its funny you say make it a 4 seater, i've been higly considering a way to make it a minimum of a 3 seater, something like this...

I was telling my wife, "Wouldnt it be cool if CLTC held like an annual meeting for the members to show off their creations.   Me and her could all saddle up in the batmobile and take off.    Then the baby came in the picture, so now a 3rd seat is requested.  And this was my plan after seeing a 3 seater at Six flags.

My dad had a work van when I was little that he put a third seat in just like that.

You should check craigslist for buildings and building materials. I once saw a brick house for free once. It was just a shell but it would have made a great shop. The guy needed it moved and within just a couple weeks so I couldn't take it. You might get lucky and find something.

Keep looking for that good job, I've been out of college 3.5 years now and just found a decent paying contract job a couple of months ago. I was offered a lot of low pay jobs before I found this one. The pay range in our fields is huge.

Hey Chilebean, wish it was that way around Alabama, its either you work for Honda, or become a Doctor if you want any type of "decent pay".   And being as im not smart enough to be a doctor (nor do i wanna be) and i dont feel like asking a jap dude if i can take a piss whilst standing on an assembly line 2 feet from someone and not allowed to talk to them...i think i will just do my best to stick to the advertizement feild of things.

I've been told that Birmingham has a good many advertizement opportunities, but they require you to know Adobe Illustrator, i know CorelDraw, but nothing Adobe, my computer administrator found me SEVERAL tutorials, but i cant seem to get them to print, so can only study them in my spare time between orders here at Budweiser.

Hopefully i can get Adobe down and start applying for atleast a 30,000 a year job.   My projects would fly then.....Maybe not fly....but assemble very fast

I will definatly check on those supplies you suggested.   I would love to build a shop with a solid concrete floor, and big swinging front doors.    There is a catch to all this tho, where i have land is on my fathers 40 acres, it is said in the will to be split between us 4 kids, 10 acres a peice.   The place that is already ready for a Mobile home is on one of those 10 acre spots, but we dont know which of us 4 kids will get that spot, SO my dad asked me not to build anything with a solid foundation.    Otherwise i would build a brick home, and build a shop attatched to the side, with enough room to park a Semi truck in it.   But its the only thing i can get right now, and i gotta take what i can, I MUST provide for my family first, then my wants and needs come into play.
