Yeah, i know, BUT on a happier note, whilst taking a walk in the rain to wal-mart, my wife DID say that she has no problem with me building the full size version a tad shorter for driveability reasons, but i have to finish whats on my plate so far first.

Hey MT35, your talking to the "lets scrape this start over guy". I'm sure I've said this before on my build but when Thomas Edison was asked if he was disappointed that his lastest attempt of over 3000 attempts at making a working light bulb had failed. He answered of course not," I've merely found 3000 ways that don't work" IT WAS THE USE OF TUNGSTEN STEEL FOR THE ELEMENT IN A VACCUM THAT FINALLY DID WORK. That light bulb still works today.... So MT35 you still have 2999 attempts.... If I might make a suggestion..... Since you are starting a new one. First it would be cool and impressive to build one on a larger scale. Maybe 3 feet long. It will be so much more impressive and maybe easier to measure.... Second, maybe mount it to a 4x4 piece of plywood one inch thick so the horizontal plane will remain the same like a jig. Also 2x8 or 2x10s could be mounted to each side so a straight edge could be supported across the body for accurate vertical measurements. Thirdly if you e-mail me your address I will send you my never used brand new electronic micrometer for free. It would be great to measure each side to make sure they are mirror images...Then I would be able to say I was a small part of your success. And I know you will succeed. Those things that don't kill us make us stronger.....Your Pal BWD

Oh yeah MT35 wouldn't it be cool to cut that unsymetrical 89 Batmobile right down the middle with a band or table saw and mount them onto a picture frame so it could be wall art. If you didn't want to finish the rear wings you could shape some bondo flames off the back like the car was coming out of the flames. Yeah I don't know where these ideas come from its a gift or a curse hahaha...Its weird but the picture art of a 3-D 89 batmobile would be cool...BWD

good ideas BWD! 3' long would be sweet. You could stick with the detailed model plan and put it in a glass coffee table/display case And the case of course could have a cave theme. If you cut the one you have diagonally it could be driving out of a picture. Maybe match it up to a picture or screen shot from the movie. Or make your own picture, since your an artist and all

Actually....the "mistake" batmobile i just gave up on measures at 37.4 inches long (hair over 3 feet) I really do like the whole idea of cutting it down the center and using it as a 3D picture lol. that would be cool, im going to run it by my wife and see what she says. She told me i cant throw it away, she wants me to preserve it. That way she can show all her friends "LOOK, my husband FINALLY made a mistake on his first try" She rubbed it in my face that she was happy i failed on the first attempt, she was getting tired of seeing me succeed in everything i do on the first try. (all joking of course) I am gathering prices for new supplies, so far prices are as such: 1/4 plywood ~ no cost, already have it 6 sheets 24x36 foam board ~ approx. $30.00 modelers clay from Micheals ~ approx. $50.00 canned foam spray ~ $12.00

Ok, before i get started again, can anyone verify the measurements for the PDF files (not the "blue"printed files available here http://www.chickslovethecar.com/KeatonBlueprints.aspx If the measurements are off here, i might as well be building it wrong again. if anyone knows anything about it, please let me know. ~Shagg

Hey MT35 before you get started you may want to wait for that package I sent you today. I sent you an extra AMT 89 Batmobile I had and that's in 1/25 scale. The box was a little totaled but the model is pretty much there and should be great to use as a scale. I sent it today snail mail so you should get it in a week.....BWD

BWD, is there no end to your kindness? I honestly cant tell you how much this means to me. Since i started my project i have always wanted a 1/25 scale model for reference, and you are now supplying it, AS WELL as a much needed measuring tool. "Thank you" just doesn't say it enough. But i can say this, no good deed goes unnoticed, so the next time you need help with something i hope to be the one that sends you a package . I hope in turn that you, your build, and your family all have good fortune for 2008. (if i worded any of this wrong, I'm sorry, I've been awake for a total of 30 minutes, and still a bit delusional, i meant well of all of it) ~Shagg

Hey MT35, yeah when I was going to fabricate the 89 body I ended up buying two of those models off E-Bay. I think its very accurate. At least enough for us...I know its missing one steel wire axle but everything else should be there. My son Patrick lost it within minutes of opening the box, but it should be easy to replicate with the other axle as a reference...I took that model around to numerous guys to get estimates of what it would cost to build a body. I think it would be cool if you built your own 89 body now you have a great reference source. Good luck and your welcome, BWD

I'm debating whether or not i should go ahead and start gathering a few supplies here and there to prepare to build myself the full size version. As i said earlier i already have the correct frame peices, had them since the 80's, i just didnt know it. Maybe if i start now, by the time it comes to build it, i can have everything i need. I'll have to run it by my wife, lol, as much as she doesnt mind me doing all these car projects, i personally want her approval on things before i make a move. (yeah I'm whipped, everyone can say it) BUT HEY, who couldn't love a woman who is absolutely obsessed with cars, and builds engines right along side you?
