i didn't see power steering in your plans. i know its expensive, but with the weight of the car it might be a nice luxery, or you could be the true buff guy on the block. i guess its not really needed.

CONRAD! .....ooo look, something shiny!.... ...what was i doing, OH YEAH! CONRAD! went to Home Depot yesterday and they had this Suzuki QUV at the front door, i peaked around the internals and they are running a VERY close set up to my original idea for my 1/2 scale Tumbler. They took a go-cart engine, horizontal shaft and belt drove it into a transmission which also doubles as the differential! That unit was made by "Spicer" they are quite famous for making Universal joints, i run them in my 4x4. It had the options of F/N/R (forward, neutral, reverse) I'm not sure how much a transmission unit like that would go for, but it would probably be something worth looking into, since you could basically belt drive any engine you wanted into that transmission. Just thought i would share! ^_^ going back to my shiny thing

Drew....for this Go-Kart on steroids, I'm going to go with the basic go-kart style steering. I will have to see how it is once it's in place.
Shaggy...interesting...will do some homework on that and check it out, but now I'll be focusing on getting this thing rolling with the temporary 8HP B&S and the steering "a la Shagg" design....really want to see how this thing will feel moving.

Well he's obviously done! He's out driving around having fun while were sitting here like suckers That's why he's not updating. Maybe when he runs out of gas he'll stop long enough to post

Easy now fellas!! no I'm NOT done. I stopped for a while cause work is insane at year end. I have a vacation coming up so I will continue my steering project then. My goal is to be done before June so I will have time and focus to start on the big boy. Until then I still have to:
- finish steering
- finish round tubing (1 or 1 1/2") from PVC mockup
- get the Honda 18HP engine (or equivalent...wait is there?)
- get (4) 29.5 inch SwampLites
- figure out a transmission for reverse (maybe)
Needless to say (or type) I have not stopped the drive for this....just my stupid career is annoying me lately! But seriously, I'm happy to be working in these times. So stay tuned guys...I'm not done YET!

Hey thanks 4reals....I'm planning to use the 29.5 inch Interco SwampLites for the rear and yes, they will be duallies. The front's for now are going to be your standard size front Quad tires....like the ones that are on there now.
