Spot on Conrad, cut them, but not all the way, just halfway will work fine . That should ease the bending.

I've said it before, I'll say it again....you're the man. Cutting brackets...

close up
The cut off blades cut very good, but one and a half bracket eats one wheel. Good thing they're cheap! Should have them cut and drilled by dinner time.

THIS IS SO AWESOME!!! im considering starting up the framework for my 1/2 scale Tumbler within the next few weeks, maybe then we can compare and contrast our two builds I lucked out and found some 2x2" strips of wood 8 foot long lying by the dumpster's the other day, perfect condition, newly bought. Guess no one wanted them. I think ima build it up into the shape of the cabin, cover it, then build my panels from there . I'll update my build as it progress's Cant wait to see those things bolted in place!!!

Shagg...no doubt! can't wait till you get started. I'm still wodering how the heck I'm going to fit and mount a motor. there's only about 1 1/2 to 2 feet of space. I'm not even sure what I'll be using yet. You can be sure that i'm going to hound you when it comes to the engine and stuff!

I plan on going with a HONDA 13HP OHV from Harbor Freight, those engines are super reliable, and have well enough horsepower to do what i want it to do. I might be mounting the engine somewhat between the rear tires, have a centrifugal clutch on a belt, down to a step down gear, attach that to a chain, and run that to a differential sprocket, and a shaft, THEN mount all that on a suspension system, somewhat simular to the front end of your 1/2 scale. That way the rear wheels wont flex individually, but as a whole. Most of your Go-carts made today have a simular setup as to what im talking about .

kind of like this set up. excuse the crudeness, i just whipped it up
this way, (given the tires arent THAT close together on the back, I can run the engine partially outside of the Tumbler's body, therefore eliminating the need for too much ventilation (since it wont be completely covered by the body) and two, giving more room for the occupant to sit, so as the years pass, Eric can still drive his Tumbler. I know he's gonna be tall like me, he's only 2 months old and the doc's say he's already taller than 90% of baby's his age. I fear he's gonna outgrow my 6 foot 4 frame .

Cool! I'm trying to fit myself without being too cramped. I'm 6-1 and when i sit in the frame so far...my back is right up against where the engine would be. I like the i dea of moving it back and slightly above the rear. I like how you "whip up" drawings. I think I understand it...I'm going to look up the engine you mentioned to get a better idea of what your going for. I'm curious about how this rear would connect to an engine like that.
Can ANY quad motor be used? I also was daydreaming about using an angine from a Yerf Dog (GY6?) Heard of it? could something like that be used?

Tacked to fit. The front bracket on the arm is backed up by another plate.
