Here's everything clamped on. I'm still not sure weather to bolt the plates on so they're removeable, or weld it on permanently. otherwise...so far so good!

I'm pretty confident with the welding but some things I need help with. The axlestubs are difficult (for me and the MIG welder I have) to attach. there's very little room for error and the gun tip is too large i think to get right at the lip of the seams. not to mention keeping it straight.

So early tomorrow morning I'm going to get the axle stubs TIG welded on to the round tubing at the shop that's doing the full scale vehicle.

Then to my office for a few hours, then back to my garage to continue on!

Hey Conrad, this is looking very nice. It will be a big benefit in building the full scale project.....Let me know if I can help in any way....Keep up the great work......

Oh yeah I would suggest bolt, torque and weld....hey but that's just me....hahaha..........And welding plate steel  over the top and bottom.......Just my two cents......BWD

Conrad, Drilling a hole and putting a bolt through the pipe and axles would be a lot stronger than just welding it.  When you try to weld a piece of steel thats 1/8 or a little less to a piece that is solid 1 inch, you cant produce enough heat to penitrate the 1 inch axle with out overburning the pipe.  I would be carefull and use that nice drill press you got and drill slow and put a bolt through.  A grade 8, 3/8 inch bolt would be just as stong as a good weld on it, and probably cheaper than paing someone to TIG weld it

Hey dave....yes the plate steel will be added. And yes chilebean...the arms on this smaller vehicle will move up and down as one. And X...the fabricator TIG'd the axle this morning. I'll have pictures later. I gotta go run some CAT5e cable now!

judging by the computer screens in the background, looks like there is the beginnings of a "Dark Knight" bat cave replica as well
