| Hey Conrad sorry about the preaching. Glad to hear the welding is coming out so well. You will be able to save so much money and know its done right. Its amazing to me how simple the tools are that the fabricator is using on my build. No fancy computer aided design[CAD} stuff,waterjetting equipment or hydraulic tube benders. Everything is manual and low tech and so I now it can be done that way. I'm hoping the pictures and the descriptions I am giving on my build might help you in some way on building your Tumbler. What a great feeling it will be to know you did it yourself. I'm happy for you and your progress. BWD

Thanks BWD. and no, don't be sorry for preaching, it was well said. or written I suppose. Unless you said it out loud while you were typing. anyway you're absolutely right about your build being helpful. what can I say about the pictures and descriptions? I'll have to get back to you because I'm still trying to absorb it all. You take alot of time to detail it all and I for one, am greatful. it's guys like you and other members that makes me realize it can be done if you want it to be done. I've learned that to do it right I'll need help. So thanks to you I have refrences for mechanics that think I'm nuts.

Ok Guys...My bender is here, but won't be mounted immediately. I have a spot for it in my garage so I'll take my time and do it right. I like Dave's Idea about the quick release stand..need to find something that'll work for the pro tools model 105 bender stand. this weekend I will also be looking at my wood scale mockup chassis and re-drawing my final plans on graph paper. the wood chassis was a bit high and narrow. I like the length, ground clearance, and engine bay. I'm happy with the overall size but as i said, need to shorten and widen it a bit. Once I have my drawings done, I'll be sure to post them. Now that the turkey is cut up, my dogs got their annual bones and meat, the house is cleaned up and everybody's gone, i'll have some quality time to myself for Tumbler-thinking.
...does it come in black?

| Hey the bends look very good. I know the hardest thing is to get both sides exactly the same but that is critical to the final performance ot the vehicle. I cannot stress the necessity of building your vehicle on a strong jig. The jig needs to be strong enough to prevent the frame from flexing. Then the tubing needs to be welded to the jig. The creation of the jig will help to keep everything square and gives you a reference to measure off of. Cut all the sides and the ends of the jig square and measure from corner to corner. Measurements should not be taken off the floor of the garage but from reference points on the jig. I think mine was 8" "I' beams and then we used casters so we could move it around the shop. The hardest part is to throw away a piece because it didn't match the other side that's why you should bend the longest pieces first and don't use your DOM for practice its just too expensive. Sorry these are just suggestions I'll post some pictures of my jig. And may the force be with you....BWD
