Hey Matt, this is Tracy in Va Beach, we use to talk about the car on the movie board..I'm the guy that sent you the info on the auction THE CAR was sold at..I'm glad to see you may be getting the car in the future.. About Barris taking the metal version of the car, was that a hostile takeover ? I have read enough about the man to know he isn't a fan of unauthorized clones..If you had to do over, would you have made public your plan to have a clone built ?

Hey Tracy, great to be able to talk to you again....and thanks for sharing the auction info No hostile take over, tho. In fact, Mr. Barris is thrilled to see the replica built. He and Tony Wood have been very helpful and supportive of my ambition from the start. I started pulling apart a Mark III that they found for me in CA. Unfortunately the project requires metal fabrication that goes far beyond my skill. Tony & I have a mutual friend here in NY that is gonna build THE CAR(for George I think), and they are gonna let me pull some molds from it to build a fiberglass replica. It is still having metalwork done, but it looks fabulous! -Matt

Matt -- Would building two metal cars simultaneously be more an issue of donor car cost (procuring the two Lincolns instead of one) than of labor cost? On the other hand, a fiberglass car is probably going to have the same fuel effiency as the donor Lincoln, whereas the metal car would be a lot worse. I could be totally wrong, though.

I could be totally wrong, though. For me, fiberglass is much cheaper. Plus, I think it will be much more drivable. The car Anthony is building using all sheetmetal is gonna weigh upwards of 7500 lbs when finished. Which will then need an upgraded suspension to bear the weight, etc. Really gets expensive using metal. A fiberglass replica should drive like a traditional Lincoln. I also have really no experence in metalwork...but I have worked with glass before; messy but efficient. -Matt

hey lincolnmrk66 I know you said that you not to into metal work, BUT with what you are doing for those sides I know of one thing you could use that would work like magic on those panels. an English Wheel , this video is of a guy that built this I think he has lpans for it if you email him but you can also buy them. Im thinking of getting one from harbor freight.

I sent the pic to Tony Wood...he said this IS the car that was auctioned off at the '83 Barris Kustoms Auction. No wonder it only sold for $2000. Nonetheless, an awesome find...thanks Tracy! I would love to know where you found this picture...looks like it came from a video. -Matt Thanks TMan for the info on the English Wheel...I would love to have one! Maybe once I get into metalworking a bit more
