ragemanchoo (1/28/2008) Matt, that's an unchopped example sitting next to it, right?
Didn't Barris basically change the entire roof of the car? The part of the C pillar parallel to tbe bumper, that is, the panel area that would be surrounding the rear window, his Car had a 'steeper' incline to it, didn't it? The car in the photo you posted has a more gradual slope to it, right?
The black car is indeed a stock(running) Continental Mark III. The sweetest part of that deal is that the black one came with it for only $1900. I looked it up again, and the ad was still there. I begged my wife to please let me make the purchase...she finally said 'yes'. So I emailed the guy and would you believe he just sold them yesterday...Uuhhhhgggg!! Anyway, I think you are correct about the C pillar...I'll try to find a comparable side pic of THE CAR and a stock Mark III...then we'll be able to see for sure. Cool pic...thats a '79 Mark V. I think I saw that car on ebay a little while ago. Speaking of which...it's pretty confusing on the whole 'Mark' thing. In 1956-77, the Continental Division built the Continental Mark II, 1958 came the Mark III, 1959 the Mark IV, and 1960 the Mark V. In the late 60's, Cadillac released the 1968 Eldorado, which was a front wheel drive 2dr coupe. So, Lincoln revamped the 'Mark Series', and released the Continental Mark III in 1968-71. 1972, the Mark IV etc..... Confusing, but true. -Matt

Here are a couple photos to compare the roofline, Rage...best I could do for now.

The roof angles look pretty much the same to me...I wish I could find a good side shot of THE CAR to tell for sure. -Matt

HI MATT,
I THINK THE ROOF IS STOCK.
THEY JUST ALTERED THE BACK WINDOWS AND MADE THE C PILLARS A BIT MORE NARROWER,
AND THE REAR WINDOW LARGER...
I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY PICTURES OF THE ROOF GETTING WORKED ON...
HERE IS A PICTURE OF JAY JUST AFTER GETTING INDUCTED INTO THE GRAND NATIONAL HALL OF FAME...

Matt: I stand corrected -- they do look about the same.
How did they make the beltline level? I mean, just past the doors it arches upward slightly. The Car's beltine is basically perfectly horizontal. Did the false body they built over the car simply go over this?

Hey Ryan...I think Tony is correct about the roofline and the C pillar. Here's a quick outline I did...looks dead-on to me.
And Dave, I can email that pic to you...were you talking about the upward angle pic of THE CAR? -Matt

Hey Matt yeah the one that has a round decal on the side. You don't happen to know what kind of a car that is. Just love the look of that car. Has a little 89 Batmobile in it with the high body and low cockpit. Also huge rims in those tires. I'd have to think its probably around a 38 since 38 Chevy's had their headlights in similar housings before they installed them directly into the fenders and after they had them on the brackets that connected the two fenders. Looks European maybe English. Maybe Rolls Royce, Bentley or Duesenburg....BWD
