BTW, Matt, I don't think I asked this before, but if you modified your Lincoln into a replica of The Car, would you retain it as a 4-door or would you shorten it down to 2 doors? It seems like you'd be making the car about 6" shorter if you turned it into a coupe to make it look like The Car. That's just a visual guestimate.

ragemanchoo (1/24/2008) BTW, Matt, I don't think I asked this before, but if you modified your Lincoln into a replica of The Car, would you retain it as a 4-door or would you shorten it down to 2 doors? That's just a visual guestimate.Hi Rage...as much as I want to do an exact replica of The Car, the game plan for now is to start playing around with my '79. I do not have half the skill that most on this board have in building any car. This is why I started hanging around here. The education I am getting from every member of this board is priceless. I also have no experience in using sheetmetal, and limited experience in fiberglassing. So, come Spring I will be disassembling much of the '79. I would like to chop the roof about 3 inches, keep it 4 door, but suicide the rear doors, and build up a fiberglass body for a The Car-inspired look. This way, I can learn something as I go, and while doing so, save up some cash to have the have a more acurate replica built later. ...and Tony, where are you finding all these pics...thanks again, they are great! -Matt

That looks outstanding! Pomona is only fifteen minutes from me. I should go down there and hang out, and hopefully catch a glimpse of cars being moved in and out.
