hee hee I'm on my 35th gallon and 130th yard of mat (approx of course).... So yet I'm a pup. Don I think the difference is that yes you are a true fiberglass guru, I think I've even called you that many many times, but we're looking at how correct the kit is to the 89 Batmobile and what it will take to make "Perfect." Not trying to piss you or anyone else off. We don't want anyone to get a surprise when they get a kit home and the dang thing just sits outside like 90% of all kit cars. So chill baby baby. I'm sure as you post more pictures someone will say "What's this" or "why that". You yourself pointed out the differences in the side intake openings. And you know I've seen pictures of the body you started with so I know you have done a ton of work. But I would add if you come here just for some one to kiss your butt and say how great you are or what a fine job you have done with no other comments then I would probably say good luck. I'll gladly say what a good job you have done but I won't hold back when I see something that isn't perfect. I do that with my own work too. Basicly you have come into the lion's den of those who know the 89 Batmobile inside and out. It's no different then when you posted Slam Bat on the 66 board and no less then 6 people pointed out that the doors aren't cut out. Well I didn't say anything because you had shared the build pictures and had previously explained the purpose of the car. But like I said from the couple of pictures you shared it does appear to look a lot better then the competition. So lets sell some kits. Do you want the 30+ kit requesters sent your way? Or are you too busy? And now for Mr. Rusty. What do you think would be said if you said "Hey Here is my PERFECT Batmobile?" Well you already know the answer and are more then happy, humble and modest to point out that you did everything yourself and it's not perfect. You spent $1,000 doing the bodywork yourself and it looks fine. However it's not a $10, 20, 30, 40, $50,000 concourse paint job. Your car looks great but you are quick to point out that it's not perfect. Because you say that up front no one says anything bad about it. Think if I didn't know you and saw your car at a show where you were claiming it to be an original screen used car and it was perfect. Well you would probably get a laundry list proving those statements to be wrong. Just adding my 2 cents but really I could care less about any of this. Don your new kit looks good from what I can tell and again if you want your contact info added then please let us know. Justin SHUT UP about Knight Rider..... You know what I'm building!!!!

Figures you dang instigator! Some of those KR guys are tough. Correct nose to dash to tail light blackout, correct shifter, interior, wheel covers, wheel size, tires, electronic, etc.... Our Pal Dee just started his KR project. It's an anal world.

DonC (9/20/2007)Now imagine if you will after weeks of sanding, grinding and breathing 50 tons of fiberglass dust , resin, primer etc fumes, your full body suit feeling like a second skin in the searing heat while you peel sweaty latex gloves off your hands still vibrating from the array of air tools while clouds of white itchy dust invade every crevice in your soul and your shop in the efforts of perfecting a straight and true bodyshell you finally emerge from bodyshop hell and into the comforts of your dwelling to find online polished sensitive tyes who I doubt have never even mixed a bucket of resin let alone more than 1000 gallons of it over their lifetime by hand squabbling over how they can analyze a digital picture a million times over and decide in their minds whether or not a certain shell is 'straight' enough for them instead of taking the word of an expert who actually know what he's doing!
Don, once again, we ALL appreciate what you are doing here. We also appreciate the time you take to post, but you ARE getting business from our board, as well as others. As such, since this is a business for you, we as potential customers can ask the hard questions. Of course, you have every right now to answer, but you certainly can't get upset when we ask.
As for your argument - no dice. I print t-shirts all day long. Well, not me PERSONALLY. I have a staff for that. But my business is printing. When I print a shirt, I don't tell my customers "No, it looks great. Don't tell me otherwise, because I am the expert." That isn't how business works. I print the best product I can, and I submit it for review by my customers or potential customers, answer any questions they might have (maybe I print one accidentally crooked, or one isn't cured all the way and the washability is not that good), and maybe they are happy maybe they aren't. Same for you my friend. You make a product, you do the best you can, and we look at it and see what we like or don't like. Nobody wants to belittle your efforts. Hell, you KNOW I have been sticking up for your efforts against attacks from other camps for the last three years. EVERYONE has seen the spectacles. But when people ask you questions, it seems like you feel you are too busy or too important to address them. Which, as I mentioned, is your choice entirely.
Tell us about you kit or not, but we are always going to look it over for improvements, inaccuracies, etc. And you know WE are going to be much nicer about it than, say, the Towle camp. More kit makers are joining the party within the next couple of months, and I promise you the ones who don't respond with
you finally emerge from bodyshop hell and into the comforts of your dwelling to find online polished sensitive tyes who I doubt have never even mixed a bucket of resin let alone more than 1000 gallons of it over their lifetime by hand squabbling over how they can analyze a digital picture a million times over and decide in their minds whether or not a certain shell is 'straight' enough for them instead of taking the word of an expert who actually know what he's doing!
will be getting the most business, because people have questions, and will expect answers. We don't have to mix resin to know what straight is. Many of us learned this in the 1st grade. So anyways, share what info and picture you want, keep whatever you'd like to yourself, and say whatever you want about our nitpicking - this is the industry you are catering to. I know you have been very successful thus far, and I wish you continued success as well.

haha..... Um, WOW. lol. I can see how I was being rude, offensive or unkind... Let me repost some of my more offensive statements:
Also, the body you have there looks good from what we can see. Congrats!
Don - again, I compliment you on the look of this '89 body you have shown there. We'd all love to see pictures. I would say it is in a whole different league than this one, wouldn't you agree?
I like the idea of drip rails and flanges - like on your newest '66.
Here, we are not being critical of DON. We are trying to see what kind of a product HE is offering in this detail driven community.
Awesome! Can't wait to see it!
Don, once again, we ALL appreciate what you are doing here. We also appreciate the time you take to post

I see where you would have become offended or upset. Take your ball and leave, good sir.

Just for kicks, let's look at your posts during this conversation:
Whoa ...my friend, patience is a virtue...is it not?
I just cleaned out the cave, two 66's sent down the road. The Big Jig I had to send back...it wasn't perfect.
However the 89 bodyshell is, not to mention straight and true...no hacking and spliiting in two
like the guy in Ohio had to do.
Seems the supply train out west to you Justin got inadvertently diverted to Ohio. Mr supplier wasn't too happy.
Uh huh...whatever you say there Mr J.
Other than that..What dip?
I don't see no stinkin' dip.
Jack, I like ya...but that's a silly request.
You'll just have to take my word on the 'dip'.
I repeat...that's a silly request.
Justin....now your sounding like the ' Sensitive One'.
you finally emerge from bodyshop hell and into the comforts of your dwelling to find online polished sensitive tyes who I doubt have never even mixed a bucket of resin let alone more than 1000 gallons of it over their lifetime by hand squabbling over how they can analyze a digital picture a million times over and decide in their minds whether or not a certain shell is 'straight' enough for them instead of taking the word of an expert who actually know what he's doing!

Don, NOW who is being sensitive? I especially enjoy the Oprah comment. Care to point out in my posts where I am being sensitive? Because I have pointed out a dozen places where you are being an unjustified elitist. If all you want is people to pat your ass and tell you how awesome you are, good luck. Try gothamgarage. I hear THEY like you...... If you want to be an adult and talk about your product, then that is what we're here for. But taking your ball and going home is ALWAYS an option as well.

On a side note - from this picture the dip seems less prevalent. I wish we could see the straightedge on it, for the benefit of those who cannot see it in person.
