Some of this may be old news, but I wanted to address a few things I observed about the OnStar car based on new pictures I came across today from "Mr. X".
First off, let me say that the '89 vs '92 debate has some merit, but here is what I learned - the '89 was cut at the fenders to fit it into a transportation trailer after the first movie. Later, the fenders were repaired but were shortened for the trailer hauling. In the following movie - THE EXACT SAME CARS WERE USED AS BEFORE, simply with the narrowed fenders. IE, the car is not a completely new car (however several more were built for specialty purposes like the Missile and the turntable car). The OnStar car is generally accepted as being the #1 car. If this is true, then it verifies this fact because in the pictures we have all seen before, it is clear that it maintains the narrower fenders.
One myth I have heard is that the engine in the "original" car was moved back to accomodate the stretch... This cannot be the case if the OnStar car IS the original or one of the originals. Why? Because look at the following pics... Portions of the engine as well as the radiator hose is clearly visible:
The next thing I wanted to address, and I KNOW it was mentioned before, but I wanted to further illustrate the fact the only the inner exhaust tips were actually functional on the car. The outside were for decoration. Now, what about that box on the left? What was that for? I am not sure.

| First, no way. All the pix of the Onstar car (from Dave and the net) show them to still have the wide fenders. 
Second, correct. the engine has always been to the front. Mounted on the original crossmember (again see Dave's pictures) 
Third, yep only the 2 inner exhaust tubes were functional, just like all the Returns Replicas. See the exhaust gas sut? 
Now all of that being said, I base all my info on those pix since I have never actually seen the car. However those are some great pictures. Hope there are more. Never seen the underside of the actual car before (just a Returns museum car). Oh the box, I could guess but it doesn't seem to have a function.

One thing I find very interesting in the pictures is that it has Neon lights mounted under the car. Onstar or the Movies?

Dammit, I only scanned the ones that I did not think anybody has seen before.... I knew that would come back to bite me in the ***. The pictures from in front of the car seemed to show that the fenders were narrower.
Now, maybe I am mistaken. Since I don't have the pictures in my possession anymore, I can't verify this tonight. One more thing - the neon lights are the darker car I think:
Which one was that, again?

Mr. X and Dan and I spent some time observing the pics he had taken while comparing them to Dan's car. I could have SWORN we concluded from the pics (they were pretty clear and close up pictures) that the distance between the gas caps and the outer fenders was pretty damn close, therefore NARROWER car. But again, I am probably WAY OFF. Do you have some pictures of the front where the gas caps are on the OnStar car?

And lastly, notice the distance between the line and the edge of the fender. 
Don't forget that Tim proved perspective can make things look the same or different.

Jack is right on the engine was never moved, you can see the radiator hose but not the radiator, it is located on the passengers side of the engine bay mounted horizontally. They used the cheap bendable exhaust tubing to rough the exhaust to the rear. The OnStar cars fenders were never cut. I think that the lights were of OnStars doing. Moving of the motor was Bob's Idea; I never saw any of Jay's cars that had the motor moved back.

Yeah, What he said that I said. I didn't know Bob and had never seen a car with a moved engine before I did mine. I moved my engine just because it seemed to make since. Move the engine, use the original driveshaft and put the radiator in the front where it could actually get some air. Seems several folks figured it just made good since.
