I just got back from Dan's builder's house, and took a closer look at how he is doing the canopy rail system. He is actually doing it similar to Rusty, but he is using a pretty neat industrial garage door track, similar to what you'd see on a warehouse door.
He custom fabricated a double wheel system for each track, complete with guide rails and such to make sure nothing gets out of alignment. I took some pics, and as soon as I give the camera back to my GF tomorrow she will load them into her computer and e-mail them to me to post (I do not have the cord for her camera to upload).
The canopy system is not yet mounted on the car, I just took pics of the pieces and how they work together.

Ok, here are some pictures I took while at Dan's builder's house recently. Try to visualise what is going on:
Here are some shots of the track and dual wheel setup:

You can see how the guide posts (there are two guide posts per roller assembly) keep the rollers inline and from shifting left or right. Without them, there would be some lateral play.

The two roller assembly's - guide posts and wheels visible:

Like I mentioned before, he has not mounted the track but I think he is gonna tackle that pretty soon - I should be visiting him again tomorrow.

I guess those would be the side rails then. Looks like it's a hanging system. What is he doing for the center?

I THINK he is having it roll on the hood. I will find out when I go over there again. Or - he might mount one reail in the center below the slat, upside down.... That would serve as a great rolling track, as well as locking the canopy down since it would not be able to come out even at high speeds.
