I used an aluminum cooker because it has a nice lip and it remains the same diameter through the bottom of the can. Unlike most cans that taper to the bottom. It was also the right diameter, took me forever to get the right one.

Sorry, I can’t weld aluminum. Or it stainless? I can’t weld stainless either except by mig, but then it would have to be painted. How are you going to fit the blades far enough back to allow for the center section or does it just appear that it’s too tight for the blades to go deeper in?

The blades will drop all the way to the bottom the basket is holding them up. I will need to shorten the housing and remove the handles.
I use alumiloy welding rods with a regular butane torch to weld aluminum and it works and looks great.
