I glassed in a large lip with a ½” edge so I can place a rubber seal around the canopy. This helps the canopy maintain it's shape and gives the canopy rigidity.

Nitro did just what you said Rusty. I have yet to do much of anything to the canopy. Just last week I was making a wood exo-skeleton for the canopy to help it hold the correct shape while I thicken and brace it up. Heck I'm just waiting on you to do yours so I can copy it.
