Just a bit of miscommunication between Nate and Eddie. Eddie's guys put the thing right back the way it was, and nobody is the wiser. Unless all of us with pics of the "wider" rear end. Personally, I liked the way it looked when I went by there, but there was not way to make the turbine that big without it looking silly. Eddie had been thinking "Double Turbine" like the comic version, but Nate wasn't feelin' it.

Thought about it since it DID widen the cockpit a little bit... But I just don't see how it would be practicaly to work the rear turbine to a reasonable size...

Just the fenders need to be widened to do it properly, not the whole car.

Yes but that wouldn't give the added benefit of the wider cockpit / more head room, which is one of the things Eddie had in mind when cutting the car in half. I think I actually prefer the car NARROWER overall, but with a 2-3" wider cockpit.

I realize that, but I thought Nate's original intention was to make the car more movie accurate. If you really wanted to make the fenders and cockpit wider that way then you would have to cut the exhaust out separately, then split it and then fill in the gaps. I believe it could be done, just not with a single cut. It would have to be sectioned in a few areas and it would take some talent to fill the gaps and make it flow smoothly again.

Interesting idea of spreading the cockpit and keeping the fenders and turbine, it did make the inside a lot more livable, and more drivable is something I am always looking at, as it will be a street legal vehicle. But I would only want to spread the fenders the right way to go for the 89, and it's just not something even this group of batmobile experts noticed for years, so I don't think it's worth the extra money. So it is back together, but due to the cutting, moving around, and a few thin spots on the original I have decided to add more glass under the body to make it good and thick everywhere, so we don't find a thin spot when I take it to paint, or lean against it. Even with this extra expense, the cost of the pick up trip, and buying extra pieces from batgod, I am still ahead of the game so no worries. Next stop, get a rental truck, take it to a glass shop and make it thick all over, instead of in just a few places. See you tomorrow..... Here is your photo of the day,
