Sorry guys,

It really IS a Jay car!

The geeks wearing the bat shirts are Jay and his son Nye at the delivery in Japan. That car was FLOWN in!

Here's another pic of Nye standing next to some ugly a$$hole movie car geek before he shaved his head and started driving an green Eclipse to pick up 18 year girls who thought he looked like Dom Torreto.

Batmobile

Remember... Jay was the sh#$ back before he got caught selling 89's out the back door and WB started seizing his entire shipments at the dock.

Batmobile

He had three sets of molds, Grey,Red,Blue and they were all very detailed. Even the cars that ended up at Pinewood were hand carried there by Jay. The hood vents were there, the intake steps were there...

(Jack... Do you have the fibreglass side intake tubes for your car? I don't hear owners talking about those that often. I think Bob forgot about those later in life. I can put a set in your care package with your Batcycle.)

And they had angles and braces that NONE of the replicas have. (Not even mine, I'm guilty of taking the cheap way out when I made my molds and didn't flip it over to do the bottom braces.

The canopies had not only the "eyes", but bracing all the way around the ends and the back side so it was not flexible like the replicas. Once again, the pic of the original canopy mold from the screen used cars.

Batmobile

When "Now Silent" Bob had the guys in Hemett pull the molds from the car he got from Jay, they just splashed the canopy to make it a one piece mold. The first try on the canopy frame with the vents totally F'ed them up (That car, now at Star Cars, has a ton of bondo where the vents were) so they covered them and re-molded that section. That's why you can see the faint outline in your replicas.

Bob told me they were a bitch to mold and not to bother. (Also told me "Go ahead! Mold your F#$%er! This way if I get caught, I'll tell Warner I bought the car from you!) but that's another story. So I covered them in duct tape before molding. (My bodies have duct tape shadows)Also couldn't pop the roof mold off, so I cut the access doors out for leverage.

Batmobile

I never had a canopy, I bought mine off Silent Bob later on in life. Pulled a mold off that and sold Bob's to Darren as a spare. But before I sold my molds, I pulled a second canopy mold and am currently glassing some "Wall Art" for Justin for Xmas with the "eyes" or "shelves" back in it. Justin's not gonna use it for anything, so he doesn't care if the shelves have bondo on them. When I'm done, I'm gonna pull a new mold off Justin's canopy and have an accurate one, once again.

And as for the "Clown Tripper/Machine Gun casing access/missile doors" there are indeed separate molds for left and right. The doors have 2 bolts glassed into the back side of each of them and they are removeable. The errors in continuity can probably be attributed to prop guys putting the wrong ones on the wrong sides.

And BTW... those aren't BUTTONS in the holes... They're LIGHTS!!!!

I boosted one off of one of the screen used cars in my young/stupid days and then boosted the opposite side mold in my older/angrier days. But the below photo of the original molds shows both left and right, and some small parts that are not used in the replicas these days.

Batmobile

DH... I can't believe you ACTUALLY PAID for pics of Jay and Nye!!! That sh#$ just cracks me up.

But if a picture is worth 30 bucks...

Here's a hundred and fifty bucks worth of rare pics!

Justin!!!??? What ever happened to my bike and batwing icons??? When you come visit, I'm gonna run over you with the Eclipse Bat

TOWING THE PLANE AND THE BIKE!!!

I'm out now, still have to catch up on all the back-biting going on on the board, but first, I'm going back to my girlz.

So Jay had access to the correct side mechanics or was Jay part of the original build team and that's the original?

I look forward to the arrival of the package and hey thanks for the PM that explains a lot. Good luck with this weeks shot and the TGZZZZZ.....

I like it when Paul comes on and posts anything that starts with "I have to make a ____________ for Justin." It makes me happy. I am going to run out of wall space soon! lol. But the canopy (with glass btw!) is going to be used as a coffee table / conversation piece.

Guys - keep digging to get all the information you can! Just letting you know for what it is worth - I can vouch for much of what Paul is saying. Not that I was there or anything like that, but some of the guys I talk to in this industry can back up what he is saying (older builders who most people don't even know about - one only five minutes from my shop!) and I have seen enough pics and verifiable proof to have an ounce of faith here. See? THAT is what I like. PROOF!

What an awesome thread! BatGod, that's pretty cool about the side intakes and the light info on the disc doors. I've always wondered what the story was with those. Now I know.

I don't have a batmobile, but I have a remote R2-D2

I can only imagine what evil will come of the ill gotten gain from this person. :sad
