Looking mighty fine Bill.

How do you lay the fibreglass over the foam?
Is there primer/paint/body filler in between?

Your build seems such a simple (and cheap) way to do it.
It also can be 'tailored' to fit any donor car body, which suits my way of thinking.

I've been thinking about using the blueprints from this (most excellent) [THANKS DH] site & a OHP projector to scale down my version. Is that what you did?
Are you going to take moulds from your car for spares?
Sorry for so many questions.

You can tell by his progress that Bill is way to busy to goof off on the board. CLTC could be the reason non of us are done yet.

Hey Bill,

Awesome job!

Do yourself a favor...

Take a sheet of plywood and scale yourself up a single template silhouette of the original, this way you can see the profile of the original in real life and you can carve yours with greater accuracy and ease.

The 30 bucks you spend on the plywood will be invaluable.

Bill,
"Scale yourself up"

Does this mean from a smaller model?

Hotwheels? AMT?

Hi Gang,

Thanks for all the words of encouragement, and support !!!

I will try and answer a few questions here, as I am seldom on the computer.

The Batmobile is being made on an existing frame," which I legnthened, and widened in the rear potion". I was NOT able to drop the motor, so the height is already off, and my floor pan is a standard height from the ground also. Basically I will make it look as correct as I can, but dimensionally it will be way off most everywhere! I am using my metal Hotwheels Batmobile to try and keep things proportionately as correct as I can.

I have functional glass electric side windows, and their shape dictated the drivers compartment, "as they go down into the side walls."

The entry will be from a hatch top which hinges just in front of the top air duct.

Already the beast is 21 feet long, and a shade under 8 feet wide, and corners like the queen mary, so a drive thru burger is out I think, besides my arms arent long enuff to hand any money over!

I will have a barrier between the foam and the fiberglass because it would melt from the resin I think.

Thanks again for the support !!!!

Bill W.

What is it with Florida and B-mobiles lately? Looking forward to more pics, Bill. Great Job!

Bill, if you are using a type of strofoam, then the resin will eat your foam. Wee, that is if you're using polyester resin. If you are using epoxy resin you'll be okay. I am using drywall mud as a barrier.

Actually, is this just a plug that you will be pulling a mold from or will this be the finished piece?

I'm not sure what tools you're using but surforms are great for working with the foam.
