| Ok I've been looking at 1000 photos of the Keaton Batmobile and have decided to build one. Does anyone know if the schematics that are in pdf form on this website are correct and/or have been used in the building of a replica. I plan on using a 1980-1982 Corvette frame. I figure I'll go to the local airplane strip and see if any mechanics there can make the hatch for me, basing it off small jets I would guess. The rest I plan to do out of fiberglass. I still need to find out what max measurements can be to be street legal. Going off the pdf schematics on this website I need to extend the front wheelbase by around 30", which means I would have to reinforce the chassy so there's no chance of sag. Before you go off half cocked, read all the back posts on chassis choice and design. A Corvette is not the way to go, you would have to lengthen the chassis at least 43” and widen it at least 25”. There aren’t too many frame shops that are willing to take on a project of this magnitude. Using a Vett opens up a multitude of problems. If you weren’t a skilled builder I wouldn’t attempt it. Two individuals have done it and the obstacles can be insurmountable.
Unless you have very deep pockets and plan on throwing away a lot of money I would stick to what has been done by most of the other builders. There are enough Impalas and Caprices that are factory equipped with LT1 motors if you’re looking for the Vette performance. Just my opinion, you can use you head or your wallet the choice is yours.

I think he is only interested in scratch building a body though... In that case the size of the chassis won't really matter since his car won't be the right size anyways. He can always do something like this!

That car use to have its own web sight. For what he had to work with I feel it was done nicely.

| Well the reason I thought about Corvette as base is because I want it to be street legal. So I don't think I could use a Lincoln Continental and add another 40+ inches to the sides of it... think that's getting bigger then dueleys (big duel back tire trucks). But if I went with a corvette I could add width to sides and still stay between the lines. Plus if I want to stay street legal without losing that cool hatch look, I think it would be more difficult to start with something like the Lincoln Continental because the interior is soooo big. Wouldn't you have to weld the seat brackets closer together if you wanted to make interior look smaller so that car didn't actually have to be like 9' wide to acheive Batmobile look? I figure with a Corvette you're already working with smaller interior and once you add enough to sides to barely fit between the lines then you will have acheived the aggresive stance wanted to begin with. If anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them. I've read each and every thread on this entire website (I own my business so have lots of free time lol). If there's a car that has a small interior that makes it easy to make hatch area but is wide every where else please let me know. This website rocks and thanks whoever is in charge for keeping out the people that just like to talk crap on sites. Good job. Jon Hunt

| Picture that car in photo with wides that went out another 7 inches all the way down body. It too would have the hatch perfected. Isn't that a vette in photo?

| To clear up last post... picture that car with sides that went out an extra 7 inches on both sides all the way down the car. It would acheive the hatch look, be wide and aggresive, still be street legal, would only need wider wheels or longer axles (not really a mechanic, more artist so not sure on that), and there has got to be a way to legthen the front end... I mean there's ways to lengthen back end because they make limo vettes... so wouldn't there be a way to lengthen front end? Thanks for help. Jon Hunt
