I just watched the Onstar commercial where they automatically open up the canopy, and it shows these latching mechanisms unlock the canopy. Ive read through some of the older threads and I vaguely remember that locking was a issue that was discussed. Could these mechanisms be fabricated and installed or was it something that was computer generated for the commercial?

I also saw it in the TV commercial, I thought it was a good I idea. There is a general aviation canopy lock that goes at the top of the canopy that would work great. It also has a key lock I have been thinking about using.
