Reposting what I posted yesterday but got deleted b/c of avatar mix up.
Was there an instance where WB actually confiscated a batmobile built by a builder?
It's been discussed here few times but is it all just heresy or has someone really lost their build car?

Andy P. was sued by WB a few years back over his car. WB did try to confiscate it but they couldn't locate it. It was a big nasty mess; Andy did have to make a few concessions over his car.
It seams now that things have been soothed over by Barris, and Andy show his car regularly.
There was a big controversy over the #5Barris, 66 car that was fan built; I have heard several stories about that one, all conflicting and always changing.

Who is Andy P. and what was his situation? I'm guessing he was displaying a '66 at car shows.

Andy P. Created the Bat limo for Batman Forever as well as the Riddler Limo. He got hosed by production and they only used the trunk of the Riddler limo on screen as Bruce's Rolls is seen on screen at the party. He sold the Riddler limo to Bob Butts who sold it to Madonna who purchased it as a gift for Prince (Hey, it was purple! Who better?)
Andy tried to get his cash back out of the Bat limo and tried to rent it out by the hour. WB came down on him hard. Then he tried to sell it and they jumped him even worse. He was building two 89's at the time for himself and a friend in his shop in NYC using molds he bought from Bob. He was under WB instructions not to take the limo out in public when one of his guys took it to get it washed and gassed up. Someone from WB saw the car in the city and called the Federal Marshalls. They came in and confiscated the three cars and the molds. He recovered them. All of this is FACT and was covered in 99 on the television show "Hard Copy".
Later, DC AND WB came down on him for touring his very authentic 66 replica at autoshows up and down the East Coast as an original. He got a C&D from WB and DC (hey, that rhymes!) and a huge fine. He was under orders to alter the car to WB liking and instead hooked up with Barris as his "East Coast Representative". This gave him the authority to show the car as a "Barris Original". This is something he does today.
His website is:

FACT not Myth!
The only other car that was ever taken was the metal replica created in Canada of the 66, waaaayyyy back in 69 because the builder was showing the car as an original. Studio grabbed it and didn't know what to do with it. Barris bought it and altered and restored it. (Because it was pretty far off, but metal) This is the car that later became known as the "Number 5 Mystery Batmobile".
FACT not Myth!

How awesome it'd have been if I were to take my prom on that limo for my highschool prom.

The '89 car didn't exist when I had my high school prom.
