I was just browsing old threads and noticed these shots.
I think the afterburner between the first and second is different.
I couldn't find the shot of the afterburner in the Museum getaway scene from the first movie. but If i remember correctly it wasn't as engulfing as above shot I think. If someone with 89 Batman DVD right nwo could post a screenshot please maybe.

I just bought the 4-DVD set last night! If I can only figure out how to capture from my DVD player on my computer...

The flame you see in the museum scene seem a little denser(?) than above. The scene if I remember correctly looks kinda like the flame you see in a gas oven. Above one looks very engulfing much like a volcano.
i don't know what i'm saying. i can't describe exactly.

Yup, they completely reworked the flame effect for the second film. There were even articles back in 1989 that had Burton complaining about the lack of flames from that first car and how he would change it on the next film. He also hated the pearly "beetle" finish of the 89. Check out the CG flame on the Onstar commercial screen grabs!

I don't think the "Beetle" finish (good way to put it) even shows up on film. I saw it in person at a car show in '89 but haven't seen it since, not even in pictures. I was convinced that this was just for the car shows.
