I know this question has probably been answered a thousand times but I just found this site on April 27, 2005. Is there a kit available of the Keaton Batmobile?

Just about everyone on the board has a kit.
Tim has go-cart kit.
Webmaster got plastic model kit.
Jack's got a Grand Vesta Cruiser kit.
Kevin has got F-16 kit.
No, just kidding.
You should read the old posts that talk about all these things.
Welcome

Yeah, just browse around and you will find MORE than enough info about where to look and what to expect.

I actually started building an 89' replica before I got into the 95 car. Long story why I never finished it. I had Huge Mickey thompsons, and a chassis built with the wheel base of 141" etc... So basically the 89' car was my first real love...
I study stuff like a mad man if I'm really into the replica that I'm building. Some things I've cringed in other 89 replicas and 89' cars that were finished using X generation molds: this is food for thought as you build your 89 rep.
1. bolting the windshield from outside the canopy. They did this alot in all the six flags cars. cheap, quick, and dirty. I think rods and racers did it too. It can take away from the mistique of the car. Can make it look like an amusement park ride. go the distance.
2. Windshield made of flat lexan - bad. go check out your 89 DVD. pause it when keaton pulls up to the construction site, and the canopy comes forward. See how the windshield curves from top to bottom, not just left to right. Every car I've ever seen since, the builder just takes a flat piece o' plastic and bends it in place. cheap, cheap, cheap. go the distance. You need to make a sculpture out of the windsheild.
3. most of the 89 X gen pulls had to be drafted.. what this means is in order to guarantee an easy release from the hard neg, the fiberglass guy laid in clay in some areas. Generations down people don't realize that this is no longer "from the original mold".... note: from what I've seen I would just as soon sculpt mine from scratch if I were to do it today.
4. internal. lack of a decent circle track cage style chassis. On a wheel base of 141", yer dern limosene length car is gona have NO contortional stiffiness unless the chassis is a mase of steel tubes. What can happen is that the twisting can really screw up your smooth canopy opening and closing. and that would suck... big time. By making it sound on the inside you will see it on the outside ... trust me. scratch build the chassis, screw what Evans did in 88. he had no choice. use only new front and rear clips. disk brakes etc...
5. get that sucker painted with flip flop paint- screw the money issue. Rob a bank. 6 colors. but ya, basically black. no cheap paint. Last summer my wife dragged me down to gatlinburg tenn. and of course I stumbled on the "cars of the stars" museum, where I saw an 89 car done by the late Bob Butts. All due respects, a bad, or cheap quality paint can again turn this piece of art into a really silly amusement park ride. I someday want to see someone who has an X gen pulled body get these things done right. No gloss paint either. let the flip flop do its thing.
6. down with polyester resin bodys. they warp. they shrink. the resin stinks, and it is a class A carcinogen. epoxy only. more than 2 times as expensive. deal with it. this is your baby man. don't do it on the cheap.
Basically you want the car not to look like a six flags ride. windshield must thick at least 1/4" or more. interior finished. all gauges mocked correctly. veeblefetzer valves. No chrome. too glam. keep it a war machine, and do it out of metal. means casting, grinding, welding. but hey, its a labor of love... no plastic crap on the side ala six flags, or the cars of the stars thing.... Note: I have a picture of an 89 car on display in Cleveland Oh. this pour thing was soo warped that the canopy didn't even line up with the body, the areas around the rear tires were bady toeing inward. If they had given me this thing on the spot and said "here take it home" I wouldn't have. That bad. polyester resin. bad overall construction. big hunk a junk... it hurt. It was from the "original molds" mind you.....
someday when I get past the 95' car and the tumbler........

¡°Welcome¡± are you guys freaking kidding me? Listen to what this pompous ass is saying about your replicas. I don¡¯t understand how you guys who are building your replica or guys just wanting to like me can take this crap.
He says over and over that you are building your car wrong and that the end result will be a piece of shit. ¡°cheap, quick, and dirty¡±, ¡°cheap, cheap, cheap¡±, ¡°a bad, or cheap quality paint can again turn this piece of art into a really silly amusement park ride¡± ¡°polyester resin. bad overall construction. big hunk a junk¡± ¡°down with polyester resin bodys¡±.
Then he goes on to say you are stupid. ¡°people don't realize that this is no longer "from the original mold". As far as I¡¯m concerned I like what you guys are building and I have enjoyed seeing all of the pictures and reading all of the stories. Build on and forget what Bob has said. As for you Bob, you need to be a little more considerate of the average person! To simple say their project is crap because it is made from polyester resin is stupid! These kits run between $10K and $15K which is a life¡¯s saving for the average person. So I would assume one made from Epoxy would be $30K (if you could even get one)? Who has that kind of money other then you, Bob?
Again for you guys building your replica, keep up the great work. Bob, go crawl back into the bank vault you crawled out of!
