Hey Dave,
You said you built the cocoon based on the computer model used for Returns movie?

Any chance u have some imges of the returns cocoon?
The movie showed the cocoon in such a dark setting I don't think anyone has really seen or know what it looks like exactly or how it's different from the first one?

Much appreciated.

Yes, the cocoon 1/64 model came from the Returns file. BUT, we wanted the cocoon from the first film which except for the fullsize model, was never drawn (no computers here) completely. The guys in Mattel altered those files slightly for the 1989 version. I think there's a pic of the full-size Returns model with a snowy floor in the image library that Tim set up for me. Check it out.

I'm sending more pics to Jack this week so I'll take care of the cocoon questions with those.

Dave

You mean this one?
Batmobile

Isn't that the cocoon from the first one?

Never mind.

The first cocoon looked like this.

Batmobile

I see the difference.

I don't think I ever really got the whole cocoon thing. The car is already bullet proof and heck a bunch of clowns got through it anyway.

What do you mean u never got it?

See it's like this.
Bulletproof armor plating is heavy and thus the heavy weight hinders on the car's movement.
So the base car is made up of minimal bullet proof plating to make the car as light as possible so it can go to mach speed.
But when the car's in parking, the weight doesn't matter since the car is not moving. So the real heavy duty bullet proof armor (Coccoon is used).

Now you're going to say but it's the same weight since the shield is tucked inside the car. This is where you're wrong. The shield appear out of no where! Something that appear out of nowhere has no physical weight or mass when it's not visible. You learn to pick these things up when you watch enough Star Trek shows.

I think the cocoon was just something that they could do with the Batmobile to make it cool. I think both the 89 and Returns versions were kinda weird as far as reality was concerned but oh well...

Jack, I hear what you're saying man My problem is that it almost looks as if only parts of the car are covered. Look at the 89 cocoon pic above. Doesn't it look like just the headlight is covered, but the front fender is exposed? WTF? Confusing for sure...

I could see covering the tires, intake, and exhaust but that's about it. The cocoon does look cool, but I would have preferred that the car have rockets. I've said that a few dozen times. Jack

What do you mean by rockets Jack? You mean like all over it like a porcupine???

They just all turn on at the same time...car stays put...everyone else gets crispy...
