When I first opened my site, I was with freeservers.com and they give you a free subdomain with the hosting service. I chose the .8k.com extension because it was the least descriptive. It really had no meaning. When I had a huge flame war with some guys last year, they had my ISP boot me and I had to get a new domain name since I did not own the .8k.com extension. thebatcave.com was taken, so I just removed the "." and kept a name people already associated with. Thus - www.thebatcave8k.com was born!

Well looks like Tim was right after all.

From Batman Forever Movie Magazine:

Batmobile Vehicle Specs and Secrets

What is under the hood of the Batmobile used in Batman Forever?
.....
And what about the Batmobile wheels? The static Bat-Signals in the hubcaps were achieved by TFX with a series of counter-rotating geears that transfer into a stationary point, through the backing plate, to the other side of the car. It was not a digital effect.

Actually, I guessed that they were counterweighted spinners (floaters, although I didn't argue that it couldn't be a counter roating gear system.

The hubcaps on the Forever car were fixed to the center of the spindle, which does NOT move. The rotor assembly rotates around the spindle. This allows the wheels to "turn" (left to right) and the tires to "roll" (around) while the cap stays stationary. The caps themselves are approximately 3/4th of an inch away from the tires but did come into contact with the tires on occaision.
