Received an email today asking about a subject that was covered in great detail a few years back.
"What is an abstractly built Batmobile"
Part One

There are two general styles and philosophies of bat Vehicle building.

REALISM is the first and simply means building a Bat Vehicle with the intent to be as accurate as possible in every characteristic of your build to the original (movie correct) Bat Vehicle.

The goal is an exact replica in every way.

Any element that does not match the original exactly is an error, deviation, and/or even a consciously conceived and executed abstraction.

Part Two

ABSTRACTION
A brief description of abstract art is a good place to start before looking at the specific elements of abstraction as they apply to Bat Vehicle building.
Pollack describes abstract art as
"Abstract art utilizes a variety of images and visual representations that are mostly aimed at depicting reality in a new way that has deeper ties to the human mind, emotion, and spirit. Abstract art exists in many different forms and there are few artists who truly adhere to a strict sense of guidelines or rules when it comes to just how they prefer to depict whatever it is they are intending to share with the viewer. It is a form of art that is much more liberal in its ability to allow one to explore colors, shapes, perception, and the many other elements that are clearly defined in the natural world. There are many different ways that artists have worked in and explored abstract elements of painting, sculpture, and other forms of expression."

Part Three

ABSTRACTION: Important observations as they relate to Bat Vehicle building.
1. You have many elements and aspects of the movie correct Bat Vehicle, such as scale models and photo-images available to you. Scale models are best thought of as visual blueprints. Thus, you have a near perfect reality to manipulate and deviate from.

2. Abstract Bat Vehicle building is best thought of on a scale that ranges from:
Near perfect reality to non-recognizable. Every element and aspect of the movie correct original Bat Vehicle is subject to manipulation.

3. Your building philosophy, interpretation, and manipulation of the elements and aspects from the original movie correct Bat Vehicle will determine the physical outcome of your finished build.
