Hello everyone! I like many other people here have always wanted my very own Batmobile. I was nine when I first saw Keaton appear on screen and say those two magical words I say to my kids when I wake them up for school in my costume… “I’m Batman”. That being said, I have recently come across a post on Facebook marketplace that inspired me to move forward with trying to build my very own. I included a photo with this post. It’s a fiberglass body kit that someone is selling in New Jersey which isn’t too far from me. They are asking $10,000 for it. Of course my mind started spinning. I’ve put away some money over the years for one of my dream car/midlife crisis purchases(too many cars to mention). After I came across this ad on the marketplace, it’s now changed from a 57 Chevy Bel Air to the 89 Batmobile LOL. I recently started doing more research online. I follow a lot of cosplay/builders on Instagram so I reached out to a few of them as well. One of them in particular said that this photo did not seem like it was a good quality fiberglass body. I have a cousin that owns a restoration and custom car business. He has offered to help me with the build which I think is amazing! I just need to do my research and get advice from whoever may have a little more extensive knowledge than me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I think an amazing first step would be to purchase the body and then I can worry about all the details(which I’m obsessed with)!!

All kits are going to need some body work. From a limited glance this looks to have the front grill, speaker covers, shin breakers, front bumpers and gun doors moulded in. Would love to see some more photos, but this doesn't look too bad IMO.

Does the seller give any more details? Who the kit came from? How long it's been sitting? Is it braced from underneath?

Hard to tell from only one photo, but I would personally advise that you inspect the kit in person. Looks like someone has already cut the hood, so make sure all the parts including the canopy line up. Might be a bi*ch to straighten it all out, IDK.

Perhaps some others with kits could chime in? They would know better than me.

Hey thank you!! When I started asking a few more questions to the seller of the kit, he really was vague about details. I asked him if he had sold to anyone else in the past if I could speak to them for reference and he said “I’ve been doing this for 20 years“. I then started reading a little more on this forum and contacted Gotham cruisers. I feel like I would be more comfortable dealing with him rather than someone from Facebook marketplace that really wouldn’t be able to give me more details. I’m definitely gonna take these things into consideration though but I feel like gotham cruisers would be a good choice to start the kit.
