I'm new to the site but have been "involved" with the Keaton Batmobiles since 1989. I do currently have the 1992 Batmobile as was used for principal photography in 1992. I joined because through the years I see so many claims of "real" cars and wanted to clarify the history and build of the true real cars. Additionally I know there are some huge fan of the cars and having access to the actual car can help people in many ways. recentley we did provide the car for a charity in Southern California and it was extremly well recieved. We will aaing take it our of storage and have it on display late October. The location is yet to be determined but it appears it will be The Ghost Squadron location near South Coast Plaza.
Thanks for your interest!

That looks like the car Peter Nelson had and my kids sat in
He sold it quite a few years ago when Cars of the Stars outside Edinburgh, Scotland closed down. Peter still has a place dedicated to James Bond in Keswick, in England.
Does this one have the wider rear fenders? Metal side-mechanics?
What else can you tell us about this car, or indeed the 89?
Thanks for posting.

There seem to be a few discrepancies with this car, as it was "used for principal Photography" " Let us know more?

This is not that car and has not been seen in public since it's use during the 1992 filming. There were 3 cars built at the request of Warner Bros by Hollywood Productions to be used in the original filming. There were numerous others built and used for touring and promotion. These 3 cars are actually a little bit narrower as they learned from the 1989 cars that they wouldn't fit in any trailer. What is significantly different about this car is that is still has all the afterburner special effects installed. The battery was moved into the passenger wheel well to accommodate fitting a large blower and transmitter behind the drivers seat. This is where the original battery was installed.

As I said I have been involved with the cars since 1989. I don't know what discrepancies there could possibly be but I'm very happy to supply anything (except as prohibited by copyright or confidentiality) that will help clarify. There is a lot of misinformation out about the original cars and I hope to help clarify some of it. The number 3 car is owned by Jeff Dunham and is also located in California. The number 2 car is in a private collection as is the number 1 car.

Sorry if I sounded sceptical or disbelieving in my posts, it was not my intention. I was simply referring to the car in the images you posted of the interior and exterior, which has a few discrepancies from the 89 #1 hero.
You said that three cars were built for 'Returns' and that the number 1 & 2 are in private collections? I am assuming that the #1 is yours, so who has the #2?
I thought that WB had all of the original movie cars, excepting Jeff's?
With yours, are you referring to the 'clown roasting' car?
I believe that Jay O built the three cars you speak of?
What else can you tell us about the 89 and Returns cars and can you post some pics of yours?

I also didn't mean to sound offended as there has always been a lot of secrecy and misleading information on the cars.
So yes, the 1989 cars are not out in the public. I'm not sure if they will ever be.
The 1992 cars are a little different. They were slightly modified. Each one is a little different. The #1 car has a removeable rear hatch that allows access to the "special effects" modifications used during principal photography. The 1992 Batman Returns cars were built by Carl Casper of Hollywood Productions at the request of Warner Bros and Tim Burton.
Yes we have the #1 car. The #2 car has been in a private collection in Japan since 1992 and I'm not sure if it will The #1 car is just as it was when it left the set, scratches, damage, afterburner flame thrower and all!, As a matter of fact the afterburner was still hooked up and functional.
I do have many more pictures and will be taking some more as we do some mantainence on the car over the next few weeks.

Can't wait to see more on this. I've always been curious about the original cars and their offspring.

This is very cool, i didn't know the returns cars were sold off by WB.
Why would WB sell off the cars from Returns but keep the 89's tucked away never to see the light of day? so odd.
