hey big bozo,
Excellent find. vertigo

Enhanced the Batmobile images a little and attached them here.
So, what is it, other than a rear mounted engine?
What donor vehicle was used.
Looks a lot like a vehicle from Road Warrior.

Also, I am told that the image basis of the Pattinson batmobile appears in batmobilehistory.com.
Plan to look through it tonight to see if I can find it.

Anyone out there want to race me to finding it? vertigo

The front looks kinda Mustang-ish? Or Challenger? They definitely went a different direction from more recent movie cars, but I'm not complaining. That's one way to show off your motor.

The will to act.

TMZ reported it as vintage 67 souped up Camaro.

Jalopnik
Andrew P. Collins said "If we indulge our suspension of disbelief a little it looks, to me, like a 1970 Barracuda with a Ford Triton V10 mounted between the rear wheels.”

Hey sly,

Detroit Free Press
"This Batmobile has shed some serious pounds and armor from its Dark Knight trilogy days and appears to have design elements reminiscent of both a modern Dodge Challenger and a classic '60s Mustang. The body shape also evokes a mean Ford GT."

The Batman: Is Robert Pattinson's Batmobile Inspired By This Pivotal DC Comic?
By Kofi Outlaw - March 4, 2020

'Will a second, upgraded, version of the Batmobile appear by film's end.
One thing a lot of Batman fans have overlooked is the relationship between the new Batmobile
and this classic Batman comic book.

(Photo: DC Comics)
Batman The New Adventures #408 was a pivotal issue of the DC Comics series, which put the Batmobile of that era (1987) in the spotlight.

"This is not the only time this comic book version of the Batmobile was around; it was pretty much the design of the Batmobile throughout the '80s, aside from variants like Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns tank, or the Batman '89 movie design that would influence the look forever thereafter."

Here is an excellent article on:

The Batman’s new Batmobile throws back to a long-lost era of comics
What if Batman just … had a car?
By Susana Polo@NerdGerhl Mar 4, 2020, 5:59pm EST

"If any one thing defines a Batman franchise, it’s the costume. But if two things define it, it’s the costume and the Batmobile — and director Matt Reeves shared his take on the car of all cars for the upcoming Warner Bros. movie The Batman today.

It’s the most understated Batmobile we’ve seen in a film adaptation — or even in comics — in a long time.
One thing that is often forgotten:

IT IS NOT THE COMICS THAT REALLY INFLUENCE THE CREATION OF MOVIE BATMOBILES, BUT RATHER, THE MOVIE BATMOBILES, THAT INFLUENCE THE COMICS BATMOBILES.

The Pattinson/Reeves Batman movie and Batmobile may well be the first to change this given. By what degree remains to be seen.

Lot of online postings and chatter, with everyone trying to identify what base factory car or cars the Pattinson/Reeves batmobile is built on and around.

The Batman: What Car Robert Pattinson’s Batmobile Is
Robert Pattinson's Batmobile in The Batman looks like a modified 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, with a Ford Triton V10 engine added on.
by Zachary Kandell
Mar 06, 2020

"Not exactly a perfect match to the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, it appears to have a custom body and/or body attachments and a Triton V10 engine."

Yeah. I don't see the resemblance there. The bat has much more arch above the wheel. More like a 70s Corvette. The classic car pictured has a broader windshield at the roof line and seems to have less curvature to the glass. The front of the bat slants inward. That's the feature that makes it look like a stang imo. Probably a mashup of a lot of things. Or maybe even a totally new design just made to look similar to cars of the era.
