"The images of the Dark Knight on a motorbike harken back to 2013's "Zero Year."
Leaked photos from the Glasgow, Scotland, shoot for Matt Reeves’ The Batman have revealed the following things about the upcoming cinematic reboot for the Perpetually Dark Knight: 1) He doesn’t have a cape. 2) He’s on a motorbike. 3) So is someone else. As unlikely as it may seem, the first two of those three observations genuinely do suggest a potential comic book inspiration for the movie.

It’s already known that Reeves is a fan of the 1987 comic book storyline “Batman: Year One,” in which Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli retold the origin of Bruce Wayne as the eponymous superhero.

Just this week, he Reeves tweeted out a panel from it to tease fans looking for clues about the movie."

Batman: Year One
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Year One", later referred to as "Batman: Year One", is an American comic book story arc published by DC Comics which recounts the superhero Batman's first year as a crime-fighter. It was written by Frank Miller, illustrated by David Mazzucchelli, colored by Richmond Lewis, and lettered by Todd Klein. Batman: Year One originally appeared in issues #404–407 of the comic book title Batman in 1987. As well as recounting Batman's early crime-fighting career, the story simultaneously examines the life of recently transferred officer James Gordon—eventually building towards their partnership.

Cool, I might pick that up and read a little.

There really is so much Batman lore out there to draw from. The little I know is mostly from the movies and the Animated Series.

MY CALCULATED GUESS FOR THE YEAR THE NEW BATMAN MOVIE IS SET IN: 1989
So, how did I come out with 1989.
First, I used the data from:
The Real Batman Chronology Project
How Old is Bruce Wayne? In February 2011 Bruce Wayne was 48 years old.
"A QUESTION OF AGE Part 2: Bruce Wayne
Modern Age Bruce Wayne. According to my chronology he turned 48-years-old in February 2011 (making him 48 at the Flashpoint conclusion of the Modern Age)."
To see the whole paper on how old is Bruce Wayne go to: www.therealbatmanchronologyproject.com

Second, we know Frank Miller stated that Bruce Wayne turned 26 years old in April
of his first year as Batman in 1989.

Third, if the new Batman movie depicts Batman during his first year as Batman we can say he is 26-years old.
SO, in 2011 Batman is 48 years - Batman starts at 26 years = 1989 year of setting in Pattinson Batman movie.
The year of the movie setting could change depending on age of Pattinson Batman and/or if Reeves takes a few deviations from Bruce Wayne/Batman chronology. Or, I could be totally off the mark. vertigo

I agree. I don't plan on building a Bat Bike anytime soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people are already working on one.

That motorcycle pic has been out for several days already. Doesn't anyone have a kit for sale yet?!?

If there is a batmobile and they stay close to the 1990s comics batmobiles it might be without much style.
I can see why Burton redesigned the 1989.

Pattinson Doesn’t Have A Batmobile In His First Movie
Thomas Bacon
"In marked contrast with Christopher Nolan's take, the Batman bypasses the first year of the Dark Knight's career. The Batman is set during Year Two, when Bruce Wayne has settled into his role as playboy, and Batman has become known throughout Gotham City.

Crucially, though, this Batman is yet to meet many members of his rogues' gallery; and that has significant implications for the movie. Most fans tend to forget Batman is essentially reactive; he develops his technology, and he devises new tools and weapons, as he perceives the need for them.

In truth, even in the comics, the Batmobile wasn't used by Batman until he'd been in print for several years. It made its debut in Detective Comics #27, and the first version was very different to the classic sleek black design.

This earliest incarnation was an ordinary automobile, painted bright red, designed so Batman could drive through the streets of Gotham without being noticed. It changed shape over the years, gradually absorbing Batman's own bat-motif and becoming his trademark vehicle, complete with distinctive wing-shaped tailfins."
