The reviews are coming in at an average 85% positive rating.

Typical review summaries:

"Director-writer Matt Reeves chooses to go down the detective route for Batman, and so the movie works for fans of superhero films as well as those who enjoy noir".

"Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's The Batman is the coolest, most badass superhero film you would have seen in a long time. It doesn’t even feel like a superhero film and that is what makes it so damn good".

"Matt Reeves' take on the caped crusader will make you wince at the sheer violence, but it ultimately works to better an already amazing film"

Saw it today and it was very good. It is truly a Batman movie, unlike most before it that focus mainly on Bruce Wayne. But I also liked the take on Bruce Wayne as being so psychologically damaged by what happened that he is reclusive and self-destructive, not the typical Billionaire playboy he is usually made out to be. Really well made movie. I will go see it again.

hey sly,

Having seen the movie, do you have any opinions and/or observations about the Pattinson batmobile's characteristics, etc?

Does this batmobile present a powerful personality?

Was it featured for sufficient screen time?

Is it a worthy build for anyone considering a build of this batmobile?

Seen the movie twice now and loved it both times. This is shaping up to be my favorite iteration of Batman, and I love this new Batmobile. The scenes it is in are some of the best in the movie and it is truly menacing during its debut. Looking forward to the brain trust of Batman obsessed gearheads here helping to sort out what to use so I can start a build.

If I may put my 2 cents in after seeing the movie.....

1. The car is a BEAST.
2. Most of it's screen time has been seen in the trailers, but it's in motion debut was great.
3. I think it is a worthy replica build and may be one of the easier to do in theory, IMO.
- the drive train set up appears similar to the Tumbler, rear engine, RWD , so that is a good R&D starting point.
- the body is mostly flat planes, so no major sculpting.
- the rest of the chassis , to me, seems heavily inspired by Trophy Trucks. Geiser Brothers built a drive train similar to what the hype of the in movie car is supposed to be... dual engine 4wd. (I suspect the Batmobile's front engine is fake IRL)

https://www.offroadxtreme.com/features/throwback-thursday-geiser-bros-awesome-twin-engine-trophy-truck/

Once the Bandai model and Hot Toys version come out, the tube chassis will be easier to replicate.

- there are reproduction panels for 68-70 Dodge charger roof & C panel sails, to me is one of the strongest design inspirations.
- The gauges have a obvious "JC" on them, I suspect could be off the shelf:

Does this batmobile present a powerful personality?
Well, when it comes out there is some nice start up effects and some powerful engine reving, so yeah, I would say it was a good reveal.

Was it featured for sufficient screen time?
I would say no. Maybe less than the DOJ Batmobile even. Mostly he rode a motorcycle.

Is it a worthy build for anyone considering a build of this batmobile?
I think it would be an easier build than others. As was said it's got a lot of muscle car panels and tube frame. engine replication would be the trickiest part.

Here's an article with some interesting comments:

https://jalopnik.com/what-engine-is-in-the-back-of-the-batmans-batmobile-1848628866

It embeds a youtube video that gives possible answers many questions, while asking many more:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gC5hhFWe5k

As suspected the "engine" in the rear appears to be a MOPAR Hemi of some sort. I was thinking the pipes in the FRONT or the car are just for show, BUT, what it the "engine" in the REAR is for show and the REAL power plant is a more traditional LS motor in the FRONT?

This makes more sense from an engineering / movie making stand point. All the hype about Twin engine, AWD could be just that..... Hype.

another good article:

https://www.kbb.com/car-news/2022-batmobile-700-horsepower-4-wheel-drive-optional-ev-drivetrain/

Which version would you build?
A) Movie canon (4wd, possibly twin engined)
B) Movie accurate Hero car (Full interior, drivetrain in question)
C) Movie Stunt car (rally edition stripped down interior, LS powered)
D) Silent Mode EV Tesla powered

OR

E) Interior shot, remote driven "Mr. Bean" version:
