Zeus - we're not actually interested in the c5/c6 suspension... actually the suspension can be sold off once the car is in hand and the new arms for the front are fabricated. I'm interested in the complete running chassis as a base, but it's cheaper/easier to start with a complete car. The rear suspension is entire fabricated to the vette chassis, but the front suspension uses the stock a-arm mounting and geometry to build the new longer control arms.

Sly - I'll get you together some drawing of the rear suspension layout.

hey THEMAN and Sly,
THEMAN has really infused this build, that was going kind of slow, with an adrenaline charge of new information, ideas, and thinking, that has really set it on fire and started it to rocking.
I am awed and inspired by the work and momentum of you both.
I see lots of eureka moments ahead for us all.
I will be giving you my sincerest form of admiration and flattery by copying you both for some of your ideas.
The steering wheel was pure genius.
I still think about the way it was worked out. vertigo

I agree, working together we can move much faster. It’s really helpful to have others to bounce ideas off of.

here's some quick renderings... I'll have better more complete CAD type layouts done from my projects puter when I'm back at the home office.

This is a stock C5 chassis with suspension removed...
Batmobile

This is the modified layout.
I'm spec'ing this to a hummer h2 rear end ($500-700) that has 4-link design already and 70" width, so with 20x16 wheels at 5" backspacing it would be 92" wide, and with 20x20 and wider tire choice it would be full 100" wide. I would be setting front control arm extension according to which wheel/tire set gets worked out best.
The rear suspension geometry becomes a triangulated 4-link to automatically center the rear axle without pan-hard or watts-link, just as trophy desert racer style trucks utilize.
Wheelbase increases from 104.5" vette to ~160" Bats. So a bit over 13' and matches up well to the 16' total length with tires and all mounted.
Also notice how naturally the added DOM tubing supports mimic how they built the tube frame bat-chassis.
Batmobile

These are the trailing arms I've settled on for needed length and shock/sway-bar orientation, and delivered all welded up comes in around $800 for the pair, and their design keeps arms from twisting while having a decent weight and strength for this rig's goals.

some things to keep in mind... the design is very malleable in that if wheelbase needs to be adjusted longer or shorter it can be, as the pivot points can move backward or forward along the frame and the trailing arms can be built with 0,5,or10 degrees of angle to help with repositioning depending on the finalized design per body being used, and all the other arm attachments adjust accordingly.

Thanks for this info, it looks very promising. My body alone is around 16' but, as you say, the pivot points can be adjusted.

yeah, I think your 88% sizing was based off the released dimensions which are a bit bigger than actual. You are probably closer to 90% for sure. But there is easily 2' of suspension movement for mount points based around this frame.
Present tire choices for 90% sizing on 20x20" wheels for your ride are something close to the mickey thompson baja claws 46x19.50-20LT or the interco trxus 44x21-20 on the rears, and a 35x12.50R20 for the fronts...
The trxus have matching in that size for fronts, and mickey thompson used to make that size in the lesser claws, so could probably re-release those for us. The bigger bias ply trxus rears max out at 75mph, and their tread actually looks like the arkham batmobile when not rolling.
But I'm looking at some other possible tire options as well to get us something more accurate looking but still manageable in weight, expense, and performance past 80mph.

Zeus - we're not actually interested in the c5/c6 suspension...

No worries - just trying to offer additional options...;-)

BTW have you guys figured out your transmissions yet? Have you looked at the TH425? Pic attached... Potentially a much simpler and less expensive option to sourcing a SCS box.

I have not looked at that one yet... mostly settled on the 6L90E or 4L65E built so far. But will gladly check out your suggestion.
