Very - thanks, I'm familiar with his wheel work... I am sticking with aluminum to cut about 40-50 pounds per corner though... Staz works strictly in steel.
Sly - yeah I will pull the tanks when I get to the welding stage.

Another front tire option for the 20" scaled wheel size, or the 22" size for modified lip on 22.5 alcoa aluminums.
Federal Xplora MTS got released just a couple months back...

Yes, of course.
But speaking of wheels.... "I am sticking with aluminum to cut about 40-50 pounds per corner though... Staz works strictly in steel" I know you are planning to modify the wheels to fit our tire choices. Isn't aluminum difficult to weld?

Not with a TIG welder, that's the preferred method for aluminum. So the Armory/Arsenal option in 20s I would go the welded route, and the Alcoa 22.5 option would be a two piece bolt and sealed type of assembly. They both give the right look, but the Armory/Arsenals already have the multipiece bolted together wheel look cast into them.

definitely glad to be playing with this stuff, I wish it was my fulltime gig instead of an after hours thing, so I could just bust through getting all the stuff fabricated... I guess it's kinda like your "vacation/exile" where you're fixing a roof or "relaxing" and just bleeding time you could be spending on the fun build stuff.

hey THEMAN and sly,
Just a few quick questions.
What is the distance from the back of your passenger compartment to the firewall in your donor vehicles?
My proxy layout is at 55 inches.
What do you think the distance should be from the back of your passenger compartment to the dash board?
My current calculations indicate 36-37 inches.
Have you done any layout work yet on planning a dash board set up?
By that I mean like a dash frame etc.

When I run up to the shop I'll grab those measurements for you... backwall to firewall, backwall to dash, even to pedal box and seat to steering wheel if you like. I have the dash somewhat planned out, but nothing formal yet, mostly just pieces I'm using for real working items. I really need to get the seats in and the center console/shifter area with the roll cage set first for functionality, then I can start getting the dash layout built out. But really I care about initial functionality on getting the car operational, and the actual dash stuff will come in the very final stages of these cars.
